This was my first marathon ever, so I can't compare it with any other. Had water stops every two miles, with Gatorade as well; thank God, because the weather was unseasonably warm. The field was very small, with only 100 runners, which left me wondering about the future of this race. Not that many spectators, though some were friends and coworkers (I live and work nearby). Nice finisher's medal. Results came in rather quickly; I got my age group award about a half-hour or so after finishing. Not a bad start for a marathon career.

The course is pretty. Not a bad course at all. It'd be nice to have more entertainment along the way -, there was virtually nothing, and the spectators were very sparse.

The volunteers did an excellent job. Plenty of water/Gatorade/etc. along the way. The police and DPW did a great job.

Mother Nature played a mean trick with the heat. Much nicer to run in the cooler times.

Since there is construction on the large parking lot, the ending should have been better planned. A loop around before the finish line didn't seem to be the best way to finish. Hope they work on that in the event there is still construction going on, or in the event it's a permanent change.

The medal is nice, and the tech T was much nicer this year. Overall, a nice job with a few kinks to work out. Keep up the effort for the organizers and for all those runners/walkers participating.

The marathon field was smaller this year than last and more attention was given to the larger 1/2 marathon field. Either grow the marathon or stick to running it as a half. The support along the course was OK, but there were fewer spectators than in the past. Also, the nice weather drew cyclists to the course, which could be dangerous. I like the Parkway and even can live with the double loop, but isn't it time to end in the city of White Plains instead of a parking lot?

I thought that the race was decent. Having run in Vancouver, B.C. the previous year, I was a little disappointed by the lack of crowd support turnout; But I was pleased by a new kind of support among fellow runners.

There was a plethora of gatorade, energy gel, clif bars, etc.

The race is entirely along the Bronx River Parkway, so no course map is necessary.

One strong criticism I have is with the timing company. The male announcer said runners must make sure they cross the mat at the start so the chip worn on the shoe is activated. This must also be done while crossing the mat at the finish.

Some of the times were missing and some came up as unknown runner. This should be cleaned up for the future, but overall it was a good race. The weather was 75-80 and entirely too hot. I prefer 50s-60s.

This experience took me by surprise. I welcomed the opportunity to run on the Bronx River Parkway. Ever since the race, when I drive on the parkway I smile remembering the wonderful day. As a first-time competitor, I found the event to be very well organized. The spectators, though few in numbers, did a great job. Thanks to all the volunteers.

I was part of the Westchester Marathon weekend. I did the quarter marathon, a friend ran the half, another friend ran the full marathon and my daughter ran the kids run. Despite the challenges of directing so many races, this was an outstanding event. No problems that I could see. Everyone seemed pleased - which explained the large crowd at the awards ceremony that took place hours after the first race began. I encourage anyone who wants to run a well-directed but low-key event to check it out.

Overall, a pretty good job. Given the amount of rain the day before the race, it was a small miracle that we were able to use the parkway at all. For what it's worth, here a few of my observations and comments.

1.The packet pick-up was a hassle; racers shouldn't fight Saturday traffic in a busy mall just to pick up a number. This should have been done at a local high school with plenty of parking and an opportunity for a pre-race expo.

2. Course was almost ideal, but the zig-zag finish left something to be desired. Runners should be able to sprint free and clear to the finish. This needs to be reconceived.

3.This is the first of many local races that I've run where I was asked to pay for parking.

4. Organization at the start was poor. Runners were not lined up properly and the start seemed to catch many runners off guard. As was noted by some other comments, there was no start mat (bummer) but I did like the disposable chips.

4. The volunteers on the course were terrific. I'm sure everyone appreciated these volunteers (mostly kids) standing in the cold drizzle to hand out aid.

5. While I enjoyed the course, there's no getting around the fact that it's pretty lonely out there. There needs to be more festivity along the course; especially for the poor marathoners.

With some improvements, this will be an ideal local event.

Race organizers did an awesome job with water stops; they were the best stocked I've ever seen. Post-race was okay too; liked having different stuff. BUT two things NEED to be corrected for next year: timing and pre-race supplies. There were no clocks or timing mats at the start, or out on the course to help gauge pace. Also, there were NO PRE-RACE water/Gatorade tables. If you forgot your water bottle, you had to queue up for the fountain in the county center. Other things to consider might be moving the race up a weekend: it's really close to NYC, and Chicago was the same day. It could be a great regional race; they just need to get some of the kinks out.

Well here are the good points: The police and highway department did a great job, medal was nice, race started early (not late), water stops were good, and having a race chip was cool.

Negatives: No race support, poor post-race, not enough food at finish, no mat on course to confirm runners completed the race, course was not easy, and no pre-race expo or post-race expo.

Well, first there were no clocks on the course; further, poor support, poor post-race party, and not an easy course.

Some good things were: The new chip used, race started early, and the county police and DPW did a great job cleaning the course due to heavy rain from the day before. A race that needs work and can be a great local marathon for the suburbs of NYC.
