Cycle-path run along river
The course for 2005 (and 2004 AFAIK) was two loops. It is a bit repetitive, as the loops consist of out-and-backs within the loop. You will be at the start-finish area 5 times.
I have heard of problems in the past of different races bumping into each other. There is an 8km and a half marathon. The 8km is actually the main event. The organizers have made an obvious effort addressing this issue.
There are no significant roads closures - the course relies on cycle paths. The cycle paths themselves are not closed so you may have problems with inconsiderate members of the public who also use the path.
The running surface varies from concrete, bituman and there is opportunity to run on the grass as well. There is actually quite a bit of concrete, which might be hard on your legs if you are not used to it. For a lot of parts of the course you can run on nearby grass for relief.
There are some good-spirited aid stationers and marshals.
Enter on the day if you like; there is no late-fee penalty. The entry is a tax-deductable donation and to keep it that way - entrants cannot be seen to get 'stuff' from the entry fee. As a result - no included medals or t-shirts, but you can get this merchandise separately. This is good if you are not interested in medals, as you don't have to pay for something you don't want. The entry fee is very affordable for a 'city' marathon.

A good race
It was a good race. Weather was fine, views were fine. Maybe more sports drinks instead of water.
