"Good training run" (about: 2000)

I ran this as a training run for NYC and enjoyed it very much. The course is scenic, the field is small, and the fans -- though few -- are supportive. I will probably do it again this year.

"Well organized race on a tough but scenic course" (General Comments)

COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

Being a transplanted midwesterner, I found this to be a very hilly course with the majority of the hills during the first 16 miles. Until mile 22 it is a very scenic course. During the final 4 miles or so you are running on a mild uphill grade, on a busy road that is open to traffic, along a 2 foot shoulder. The last 4 miles aside, however, it is a very well organized race with great support (e.g., water, traffic control, etc.) from start to finish. The very few fans that were along the course were friendly and enthusiastic and set up several 'unofficial' water stops along the way. I wouldn't run this course if you are going for a PR.

"Scenic Course. Great Support. Little Spectators" (about: 2000)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 1

Beautiful scenic coarse. Excellent support. Very Few spectators. During toughest part of the race on a very busy road there were no spectators. The early hills make this course tough.
There was no time limit on the course so it was good for slow runners, but it sure feels more like you are running a long run alone than a race. One nice touch was the announcing of your name as you cross the finish line.

"3 time finisher" (General Comments)

Beautiful scenic coarse. Excellent support. Few spectators but enthusiastic just the same. The early hills make it a tough race to qualify for Boston. It was my first marathon course and my favorite. best time of 3:22:00 40th place :) If you dont like large fields, then this is the race for you!

"A fun early season fall marathon." (about: 1998)

COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 2

While this is a good race most of the participants use this as a last long training run before another fall marathon. There is plenty of fluid on the course and there is good post race food. The course is very flat after mile 15. I never could understand why more people don't come out for it.
