"Best Marathon I've ever run! Great for all levels" (about: 2013)

This was my third full and my most rewarding. The wave start combined with spectators cheering you on the whole way makes it worth while. You actually forget you're running because of the energy levels!!! Nothing beats turning the corner into China Town..holy cow!!! My music died at mile 17, but I didn't even notice...it was amazing!!

This is a great race. I'm from New York and have run New York, but loved the Chicago Marathon. If you can get into this race, you should definitely do it. You won't regret it at all!

"Third consecutive Chicago and BEST EVER!" (about: 2013)

After following my wife for over 12 Marathons ~ I caught the Marathon Bug and The Chicago Marathon is my favorite. With more than 15 Marathons under my belt in nearly 4 years ~ I look forward to The Chicago every year. The sights, the sounds and most of all the scenery are simply unbeatable. Training more than 18 weeks and running more than 500 miles ~ to finish with The Chicago only makes sense. Each year the weather has been perfect and the fan support of nearly 2 million locals and from all over the world keeps the pace moving toward one of the best 'after race party ever!'

"Superior Organization" (about: 2013)

Pros:
Loved the flags at water stops clearly indicating gatorade, water, restrooms.
Expo was large, clean, organized.
Nike race shirt was quality
Go to Niketown after race. Atmosphere was epic. Booming music, cheerful employees.
Hyatt Regency on Wacker Dr is great choice for hotel.
My favorite part of race (by far) was DJ around mile 22(?) who was behind a fence in a parking lot blasting the loudest, best dance song 'Animals'. Thanks DJ.

Cons:
Severe shortage of porta-johns at corral A/B.
No small shirts Sat morning at expo! Sorry, if u wear an XL then you're not a marathoner.
Lemon lime gatorade is disgusting.

"Great race. The crowds are amazing." (about: 2013)

I have run 10 marathons, and the Chicago Marathon is by far my favorite. The crowds make you forget that you ran over 26 miles. I will return again.

"Pretty Good overall" (about: 2013)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Chicago Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

I was satisfied with the marathon overall. The course was a pretty good tour of Chicago neighborhoods, the organization and the spectators were outstanding, the expo was well-organized, and the finish-line area was great, ESPECIALLY the massage - probably the best post-marathon massage I've ever had. Areas for improvement are the S.W.A.G. - the shirt is horrendous and the medal was bland. The pasta dinner at $30 was waaay too expensive. Otherwise, I was pleased and would recommend the Chicago marathon to anyone needing to 'check off' the state of Illinois.

"Best organization ever!" (about: 2013)

Really well organized! It seems that everything went very smooth despite all securities measures. Free buses to the expo were fantastic, Bib pick-up was organized very good. There were only not a lot of spectators at the finish, probably due to security but it was strange.

"I'm in love with this marathon!" (about: 2013)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Chicago Marathon

This was my 12th marathon, the last one being Boston, last April 2013, which of course will always have a special place in my heart. But I can safely say that the Chicago marathon is my best race experience so far. It was my first time in the city, and I absolutely loved everything about Chicago. The city alone is worth a trip and I'm glad I stayed 5 days. But I came for the marathon and I fell in love with the city through the 26.2 mile course. What a beautiful, flat course. Always something to look at, never a dull moment. The crowd was spectacular. As supportive as Boston, but bigger. And the volunteers were just amazing. Thank you so much guys, you worked so hard for me and my 40,000 friends that day. You were the best...

Flawless organisation, from the expo and bib pick up, to the well thought out corrals, and the amazing finish line and smiles all around.

Be nice to the runner in you and run Chicago at least once in your life.

"Not much to complain about" (about: 2013)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 Chicago Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

Like my summary says, not much to complain about. We had great weather, good crowds and a flat course. I particularly appreciated the individual bag of ice provided to each runner - nice! Only 'complaints' I could think of was a) the plain medal, but really, I'm nitpicking there. It was still nice; and b) packet pickup had some issues when I got there - they couldn't find me in the system. Eventually got sorted out. Overall, great job, Chicago! I recommend every runner tackle this race at least once!
