"What a fun, fast course! Great organization." (about: 2016)

The only comment I have to improve the course would be to include a water-stop somewhere between mile 22 and 24 or something like that. There was a long stretch without water towards the end of the race. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice.

"Finish and results disorganized" (about: 2016)

I found the course to be great. Enough scenery changes to stay fresh, and the spectators and volunteers were awesome. Parking was really mishandled. Waiting so long to park that you're late is not acceptable. Then by the time you're finished the refreshments are nearly gone already. I'm sorry, but half marathoners and relay runners should not be able to use these accommodations up before the full marathon runners are finished. Or, have separate areas for the groups.
The online results are also a bit confusing. To have each individual placed by the clock time and not their net time is not how I would expect a BQ marathon to be handled.

"Great small marathon for a PR" (about: 2016)

This was my sixth marathon overall and fourth attempt to qualify for Boston. I'm happy to say I'll be heading to Beantown next year. The course was very flat, fast and everything was paved. The course was very well marked with plenty of volunteers helping out.

I would highly recommend this marathon if you are looking for a flat, paved course and you enjoy small/medium sized marathons.

"Okay race, but not a good course" (about: 2016)

11-50 previous marathons
COURSE: 2  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 2

The marathon course had what felt like a million turns and not enough signs marking the turns. More than a half a dozen times I had to ask volunteers which way to turn when I came to an intersection. One section of the course had us run along the side of a road with traffic for a mile, no cones or anything else separating the race from traffic. At least the course was pretty flat. Spectators were sparse. Aid stations were fine.

Didn't care for running in the bike lane on such a busy road, but overall, the course was very nice.

*More bathrooms & better placement (not in front of starting line). Also there were bathrooms available on the course that weren't on the map which is great, but doesn't allow you to plan.
** Results currently have places per clock time not chip time. This is quite upsetting, and I hope this will be adjusted. I thought this was a chip time event like last year!

The Glass City is a well organized event with ever growing community support. Great venue if your looking for a first marathon as it has a nice and flat course.

I love driving to Toledo (from Chicago) for the GCM 1/2 Marathon. This year the organization from the toilets being in soaking uncut grass to the start line facing the wrong way from the toilets, which made it very hard to get to. I was not able to get any food for a long time so I left, I just wanted a bagel or banana. Also the fast flat course was not there. I was a bit disappointed but I will probably come back anyway. People were friendly and the water stations were very nice. I also liked starting on Bancroft, I just wish the organization could have been better,

This is an exceptionally well run event. The website, communication, expo and everything on the day itself were top notch. The course is flat and very well laid out. Spectators are enthusiastic and plentiful.
