I ran the half and think they did a great job for an inaugural event. I would think they'd iron out the few kinks and next year could even be better. Excellent course, first 5K was through a lovely park and a covered bridge and later over their signature bridge that's on their logo. It's a pretty, clean town and we stayed at the Clarion, 10-15 min. away, which was runner friendly as well. Lots of nice places to eat downtown and surrounding areas. Yep, I'll be back, maybe the full this time.

"Well done inaugural race in a nice town." (about: 2013)

Good race, flat course, but needs better management of the small start area. It was grid-locked with runners and also family, making it difficult to find gear check, and hard to hear PA. Failed to post pace signs at start area until it was already grid-locked, and needs pace groups, and maybe corrals to spread out the crowd and keep family out. Parking in small downtown caused grid-locked traffic - need inbound traffic management. Need to offer gel on course and better sports drink. Portalets scarce on course. Good fan support in the neighborhoods. Needs earlier start than 8 AM, since it got warm quickly on a sunny day. They'll fix the kinks, and I'm eager to run it again. All full and half finishers got chance to win a Cummins diesel-powered truck - won by a half finisher.

The course was flat and fast, plenty of water stations and wonderfull cheering spectators. The whole town was behind the race with many many volunteers. Course volunteers and police did an outstanding job.
I plan on returning to run this one again.

Great start for their 1st race. Good turnout and a nice course. Need a little more structure at the start, a 7:00 am start time & a better variety of food at the end. All I saw was bananas. Great volunteers & spectators,
lots of water stations and great support from community & downtown area
Certainly worth running again.

Wow! This is my 23rd marathon, and it is by far-and-away the best! The organization took care of everything, even parking passes for participants! The organization was superb, the fans were great, and the volunteers - the best! The city of Columbus, despite its size, is ranked 6th in the nation for architecture. The race course went by many of the outstanding buildings in the community. Police did an excellent job of protecting us enroute.

This was the first time this race has been run, and one of the sponsors, Cummings Engine teamed up with a local car dealer to give away a Dodge Ram 2500 with a 6.7 litre Cummings Diesel Engine to a finisher of either the full or half marathon. It didn't matter where you placed, as long as you finished in the required time and be present when the winner is announced. The winner of the truck was a young woman that completed the half.

Two small glitches, that are laughable when you think about it. The pre-race ceremony was held at the finish line, and the signs for the expected pace to help runners line up prior to the start were also mistakenly placed at the finish line instead of the start line. The finish was a block over from the start, and once the error on the sign placement was discovered, and corrected, was only about 3-5 minutes before the gun went off for the start.

One more comment, unless you're staying overnight after the race, don't stay at the Comfort Inn and Suites. They did not allow for a late check-out. However, the Tipton Lakes Athletic Club allowed me to come over and shower afterwards. Thanks TLAC!
