 "Challenging run for my first marathon-HILLY!" (General Comments)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 This marathon was beautiful, lots of beautiful horses and pastures. Scenery a close second to that of the Bermuda half marathon. First half of run is mostly flat, second half was quite hilly (yeah, this part of Florida is very hilly). Volunteers were wonderful, very encouraging! Great water and food stations. Lack of portajohns during last 6 miles of race and at the start. Thanks to the organizers, volunteers and horses for a positive first full-marathon experience! | |

"Great race broke my PR for 1/2 Marathon!" (about: 2002)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 This race was great compared to the Jacksonville Marathon. The scenery was awesome, as far as lack of spectators well, what do you expect in farm country? I did see a lot of horses and beautiful farm land. The hills were not bad at all and made the race challenging. Traffic, what traffic? The water stations were everywhere. Plenty of (COLD) water and snacks after. The only negative thing that I can report was the lack of bathrooms, 7 for over 600 people, other then that, this was a great race. Maybe 1st Place Sports can take a look at this and get their Marathon up to snuff... | |

 "Beautiful, hilly course!" (about: 2002)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 1 The 1/2 marathon course is challenging, beautiful, and well-marked. The quarter-mile of sidewalk near the end is hard on tired quads and sore backs, however. The aid stations are plentiful and staffed by very supportive people. The T-shirts are very qood quality but the design isn't up to snuff. A word about how the half-marathoners are treated, though: if one set of runners gets a long-sleeved t-shirt, then we all should; and if you're going to give medals to some half-marathon finishers, then you need to give them to all half-marathon finishers. I assure you that the people at the back of the pack work every bit as hard as the early finishers. It was disappointing to have nothing to show for the hard work. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 2 The race course is very interesting, with several rolling hills. It can get kinda boring running that long with so few spectators to cheer you on. | |

 "A must do marathon" (about: 2001)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I ran this marathon in 2001. It was cold and raining but we all had a great time. The course is beautifull and challenging so you have no time to get bored. I give the few spectators a 5 star rating, they were very supportive during the rain . It's a small race but by far one of the best. See you there in 2002 | |

"It's a well organized and scenic race." (about: 2000)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 1 This race is low key - a small field and no spectators. However, it has excellent organization. Not a snag except some confusion finding the starting line on an early and chilly (minus 32 degrees) 2000 morning. It's obvious the organizers are runners who pay attention to detail. Most importantly, the race is as scenic as advertised. The horse ranches are endless and quite fascinating. The course, if you're concerned about a fast time, will not disappoint you. It rolls in parts but is mainly flat. You will be shocked (for Florida) to see a rather steep but short hill around the mid point. Other considerations are the traveling convenience. It's an hour or so north of Orlando, where I'm sure you can get a cheap flight. The post race scene was enjoyable. I recommend it, then drive to Miami for some warmth. | |

"Great Race!" (General Comments)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 I ran this race in 2000 and I gave the spectators a 3 star only because there were not a lot of them. The people that were there were as loud as they could be. The only knock on the race I have is they are hard to email because my name wasn't posted on the web and I wanted to see how I did. If you run it, it is a real flat race! |
