"less wind" (about: 2013)

1 previous marathon | 1 Sand Hollow Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

I ran the 2013 version of this race and it was absolutely fantastic, it was my first ever marathon and for my first ever marathon it was really good, the course was out and back and there was a hill at mile marker 18 but i walked it, pleny of aid stations, well organized, the only thing i could say about making things different is please let us pray for less wind, the conditions around sand hollow with the wind were terrible but all and all a good race

"Fabulous Scenery, VERY BIG hills." (about: 2012)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Sand Hollow Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 2

Loved, loved, loved this race. Gorgeous scenery, friendly runners, beautiful location in the middle of nowhere.
One request - MORE WATER on the course! We were dying at the end. If possible, especially in the heat like yesterday, please have water every mile after the BIG hill. And PLEASE - right at the top of hill near 18.
Recommend this race to all. The course is challenging but memorable.

"Great small town marathon" (about: 2011)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Sand Hollow Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

This was the inaugural year and great example of how fun and cozy a small town race can be. I was impressed with the organization of the race. When an unexpected rain began to fall (unusual for the high desert of southern Utah), race staff were on the course handing out plastic trash bags within minutes. You could tell that the race cared about the runners and were doing all they could to make it a good experience. And it was, despite the rain.

Course: An out and back course consisting of paved country roads. The course was well marked and included an uphill section at about mile 18 at Sand Hollow Reservoir. A very scenic course that was open to traffic but I only saw 3-4 cars the entire race.

Race shirt: I have worn the race shirt on many runs this summer. Great design of Kokopelli in minimalist running shoes!

Awards: Local merchants donated generously to the race and it showed in the overall and age group awards.

Finish food: Plentiful and included cookies, chocolate milk, M&M's, muffins and fruit.

Timing: Chip timing with cool touch screen computers at the finish that showed the results of each runner.

I enjoyed this race and plan to return in 2012.
