"Loved the run!" (about: 2011)

Event was run very well. Course was a little more hilly than I was expecting, but it was a great course with many water/Gatorade tables. I wish there would have been bathrooms to use along the course. I would also have liked if chip timing were used. All in all, it was a great race with wonderful post-race snacks. I hope to do this race again next year.

"Rough Day, Tough Course, Very Well Done" (about: 2011)

A very windy day, and the flat landscape didn't provide cover from the wind gusts; but they can't control the weather. The course was relatively flat, but enough gradual climbing at the end to kick your butt. Easy access for spectators; I saw my wife and kids 8 or 9 different times. A lot of fun, and it's run well. I see you next year.

"Very nice 1st effort" (about: 2011)

I ran the half-marathon. Of course there were a few issues with an inaugural race, but overall a very nice run. And I PRd the half marathon.

Whoever said it wasn't flat, I don't know what race they were running. Very flat except for a hill at the end. Start was confusing and mile markers need improvement. But really - I thought it was great. And this is a great time of year for anyone training for a full marathon in late spring.

"Hillier than expected; friendly." (about: 2011)

I found the race director to be very friendly and helpful. The course was hillier than it describes on website. One porto-john at mile 13. Surprised at the amount of traffic on country roads. Course was pretty, and if it weren't so windy, the hills may have not felt so bad. No chip start, and I got there 2 minutes late due to detours. The 10-year age groups are never fun. All in all, it was nice for a first-time marathon.

"Nice, small race" (about: 2011)

I did the inaugural marathon this year, and came away fairly impressed. It's a very small race, with fewer than 150 people running the marathon, but it is put together nicely. There are a good number of water stations, and the half and full courses are easy to follow.

The course is fairly rural. Even though it is an open course, you encounter very little vehicle traffic. You also encounter very little crowd support, which for me is no big deal, but I understand that others enjoy seeing spectators.

The organizers are friendly, and knowledgeable, and as years go on I can see this becoming a larger race.

The only thing that surprised me were the hills. While there are no large, killer hills, there are rolling hills nearly the entire course. The course is still somewhat fast. Had the wind not been blowing at 25+ MPH, I would have likely run a PR.
