COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 1 If you build HYPE about the "world's toughest marathon" and you a lot of money, you better have a tech shirt and a DECENT MEDAL not made by elementary kids out of cookie dough - and you should make sure your runners can get back down! Where were the buses??? Volunteers were outstanding. | |

 "Hardest Road Marathon: Fact" (about: 2010)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 4 I had a great time running this marathon. The course was the highlight from the cactus at the start, through the scrub and rock pillars in the middle, to the pine trees at the top. Volunteers were super helpful and friendly and kept aid stations well stocked. The police did an awesome job keeping the course safe. There was obvious confusion with the transportation before and after the event that can be fixed after the first year. The finisher "medal" was disappointing - cheap. How hard was this? My road marathon average is 4:20 and this took me 6 hours. Oh, that last blast at mile 24 was a killer. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 Medals for the "World's Toughest Marathon" looked like they were cookie dough art made by 3rd graders. Where were the buses to take us back to our cars? Where were the tech shirts for the World's Toughest Marathon? There was a lot of HYPE about this event and they did not follow through. Volunteers were outstanding!!!! |
