This was our first trip to the Island and it will not be the last. The race was well organized, and everything with the event went very smooth. The setting for this event was truly unique, and made it one to remember. The double out-and-back course could use a little adjusting, but it had a nice mix of terrain. The ferry ride was fun and we had great weather for the entire trip. The locals were very friendly and helpful. The post-race party at the beach was top-notch. When can I sign up for next year??

What an awesome race. Very well done. It had the best post-race party ever. Lying on the beach/in the cool water, with great food and drink was perfect. It had the best timing and results system I've ever seen. The boat ride was great. I've been on Beaver Island many times and that was the best weather I've ever seen. It could have been 40 degrees, with rain and wind. The course was challenging and fun. It was unique to run, and rare to have the different surfaces to run on. Thank you very much for having the race, and please do it again! Thank you to Beaver Island for the great welcome and hosting of the race.

"Amazing destination race!" (about: 2009)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 Beaver Island Marathon

This was my seventh marathon, most of them being larger events (over 10,000). Beaver Island had a total of 300ish, for both the half and full. You have to take a ferry or plane to this true island, which was very cool. I wouldn't even call it a resort island either. The organization was great, the town was really into the race, and while the weather was a little warm, the support was amazing. I don't know when registration opens for 2010, but I'm definitely going back and bringing my family for a vacation. This is a must-do for anyone looking for a unique race.
