"An Amazing Experience" (about: 2010)

I wasn't sure I would like running a marathon inside, but there were benefits that I didn't consider until I experienced them. It was very nice to see your name pop up on the large screen that they had set up next to the track that told you your time for that lap, and the number of laps completed. A great motivation to keep moving. No long porta-potty lines before the marathon. Guarantied perfect weather, and a smooth, flat surface. Wonderful organization staff, and a water stop every time around if you wanted it.

"Great Races - Perfect Conditions!" (about: 2010)

I ran the Gold Challenge (half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday). Both had perfect conditions: 55 degrees, flat course, uncrowded, and 95 aid stations for the marathon.

It's just over 47 laps for the half and just over 95 laps for the full around the Pettit Center's running track. Having our own numbered water bottles that were filled by the volunteers whenever we wanted worked out great! The organization and volunteers were awesome! I love the runner's bag, technical shirt, water bottle, and the three finisher's medals.

The fans helped a great deal and you got to pass them approximately every quarter of a mile.

"Fun different half" (about: 2010)

Great different winter race. I don't know that I could have done 96 laps! But 47 wasn't bad. It was fun seeing the fans every 2 minutes. And the race went surprisingly quickly. I didn't PR, but it was in my top 3 half times. I LOVED that we could do race-day packet pick-up. That made my life A LOT easier. The volunteers were wonderful. They'd find your bottle and refill it for you, and they were just wonderful. They were really "on" for the whole race. It was fun to watch the Olympic speed skaters warming up and the pee-wee hockey players. We pretty much had the ice to ourselves most of the race, besides the Zamboni, but at the end the kids' hockey teams and speed skaters showed up. They were a nice distraction. The "weather" was great. A fun race - I'd definitely do it again! Thanks to Chris P. and the volunteers!

"Interesting" (about: 2010)

I did the half and would be interested in the variance in distance for the inner and outer lanes. I stayed in the outer lanes for most of the event so I would not be in the way of the faster runners. There was a large clock set up each lap, but it was easy enough to avoid if seeing your time every 2-3 minutes was worrisome. For me it was difficult to push myself with the same scenery over and over again, so my time was about 6 minutes off of a PR. The water bottle/gel station worked well. It was easy to let the friendly volunteers know you would need a drink and gel the next time around. Packet pick-up was easy and convenient. A great event to experience, but personally I think I need varied terrain and scenery to do my best.

"Fabulous!" (about: 2009)

This was my first marathon, and it was such a great experience that I'm hooked! Everything was very organized, and all of the volunteers were so helpful and supportive. I loved the camaraderie of running together with all of the runners; I got to see the winner pass me about 40+ times, but it was fun to cheer him on.
I would highly recommend this for first-time runners. The weather was perfect, water/Gu were plentiful, and the crowd was great - a perfect, controlled environment. I loved it!

Very well-organized. A perfect 55 degrees. Volunteers were superb!! Yes, you run around in circles; but that beats the 30 degrees below zero outside the arena.

The bad news is that you are running on concrete around an ice rink 96 times. But the good news is that every 3-4 minutes, you are passing enthusiastic volunteers, a water stop, and a small boisterous crowd of spectators. The view wasn't boring, as there was a constantly changing group of skaters on the rink, ranging from amazing speed skaters, to cute, young kids taking lessons, to klutzes similar to me who spent more on their bottoms than on their skates. There was GU during the race and a feast afterward. By the way, the outside windchill was -20. The race directors are eager to make this an even better race.

"VERY well organized first-year event!" (about: 2009)

There are very few race options for marathoners in January in Wisconsin. This race is indoors but it's not as boring or as monotonous as you'd think.

First of all, the conditions are perfect for a marathon... it's 55 degrees, no hills, 95 aid stations and almost 200 chances to use the bathroom. The 26.2 miles works out to just over 95 laps around the Pettit Center's running track. The organization and volunteers were great. Every runner had their own numbered water bottle that volunteers would hand to you whenever you asked. It sure was nice to have an aid station every quarter mile! There was plenty of room to run and pass because the race was limited to 100 people. iPods weren't allowed, but you don't need them - in the months leading up to the race, you could email your song requests in and they played them over the sound system! Great giveaways: nice runners bag, Mizuno tech shirt, nice water bottle, and a nice finisher's medal.

The fans were great too. There were lots of signs and you can't beat the convenience of sitting in the stands and cheering on your loved ones every quarter mile. This race is a true gem... especially for this time of year. I'd love to do it again!
