"A good race, but not great" (about: 2011)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 3  FANS: 1

If you want a race on flat terrain, I doubt you can find flatter than this. The course is beautiful and well paved. Race staff and participants were very friendly. T shirt was cotton, but very nice. My two bits of constructive criticism are: 1) the water stations were not that well spaced for the marathon, particularly around the mid part of the race (which I think contributed to some nausea that really slowed me down) and 2) the food selections at the end of the race were pretty unappealing (I ate a banana, had a bottle of water, and went home). There are very few specators on this race, which doesn't matter much to me, but if you need a cheering crowd to help you push, you won't find it here. Overall, though, this is a nice event.

This was the smallest marathon I had ever done but it was great. Beautiful, flat course; great organization; great weather; very quiet and serene overall. I jumped in at the last minute, which is also nice. My race was slow but I enjoyed every minute. Definitely would do this again.

"Fast, beautiful course!" (about: 2010)

This is the 2nd time I've run this marathon and 2nd time I'm commenting. This is a terrific small marathon. The course is flat and beautiful. The course is an old railroad trail that has been asphalted. It's tree-lined and farms and a golf course provide beautiful scenery. This is very well organized, friendly marathon. You can stay in the small school gym until the last minute. If you are lucky enough to place in your age group, you immediately receive a 2nd medal upon crossing the finish line. There is pizza, bagels, etc. in the gym after the race. It's also nice to have your car right outside the school. I will definitely return. If you are looking to qualify for Boston, I highly recommend this course. I also have to comment on the sweetest Cub Scout who took it upon himself to place a cup of water into my hand and lift my hand up to my mouth to help me drink. What a champ!

"Beautiful day, beautiful course" (about: 2010)

This was my 11th marathon so I wanted to post under my new "11-50 marathons" title. Just about the perfect day for a marathon - on a great course. Only thing that I didn't care for was the young man at the finish with the bullhorn. I will be back.

"Favorite Marathon" (about: 2010)

This is my 3rd time for this marathon and it's my favorite. Small, flat, very organized and friendly. Most of all, it benefits a great cause. Get there a few minutes early and walk through the school and look at the pictures on the wall. It'll definitely make the difficulty you might encounter the last couple of miles seem a little less difficult.

This was my 5th marathon and my favorite course. It's very fast; I got a PR today. This is a very small marathon but it's perfect if you hate large crowds.

I ran this race at the last minute as my final training run for my first 50-miler. Organization was top notch. Pre-race and post-race food were fantastic. The course was great, and the (few) spectators made their voices heard. I would rather have 10 who cared than 100 who didn't. See you next year, Elyria!

This was a very well organized race. Plenty of volunteers to make the registration and chip pick-up easy. Day of racing for a marathon is a nice benefit. Beautiful weather and plenty to drink along the way. After picking up my medal, and going into the school to wash off, the slice of pizza and fantastic chicken paprikash were fantastic, not to mention the coffee and other goodies this race offered. This was a great little race and I will be back again and again.

You don't run this race for the shirt, medal, music or spectators. It is for the runner who loves a fast course on a crisp autumn day. This was my seventh marathon in 36 days, and my fastest in 30 years. Well stocked and well placed aid stations, and good food afterward. Keep up the good work!

This was my third year in a row in this marathon. God must be smiling on them because the weather is always perfect on race day. You just can't beat the pre- and post-race venue. I probably won't be back as I finally got that BQ, but I certainly recommend it!
