COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 this was my first marathon and so i don't a comparative experience, but i will say it seemed well organized, there were always fans along the way encouraging the runners and the post race fesivities were great. my only problem with the race was it was run on riverside drive and not on route 66. i think out of 26.2 miles we ran on historic route 66 about 10 blocks. could the course change to go more along the route 66 instead of out to jenks? | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 4 This was my first marathon although I have run a half before. This was the first year for this marathon and for an inaugural event it was quite good. The course was fast and flat... until about mile 22 where the hills started to arrive, some of which were pretty steep. The last mile was pretty much all up hill and made the finish a little more painful. There weren't a whole lot of spectators other than at the start and finish of the race. But the ones that were out there were loud and supportive. The organization of the event was lacking in a couple areas, and it probably has more to do with this being a new event. First the aide stations were quite undermanned which caused some 'traffic jams' especially early on. Also the poweraide at several of the stations seemed to be mixed incorrectly, sometimes it tasted like blue water, other times it was almost syrup like. The finishing food area seemed to be a bit disorganized as well and the food choices were somewhat lacking. On a more positive note, the volunteers who were out there did a great job and really worked hard. I had a great time and enjoyed the overall experience of the race. The organization problems are really quite minor and will improve w/ time. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was a very successful event. I am glad I came to Tulsa. I have a few comments. I suggest using chip time only. The race was bottled up at the start and there was uneven pavement and gravel in Jenks. At times the course wasn't as clearly marked in and around Jenks. The entertainment was meager on the second half of the marathon and I suggest allowing runners to use I-Pods or Walkmans. The course was generally great, great marathon, great volunteers, police and hospitality. This is a beautiful city. This race featured your lovely city and it is a great first annual race to commemorate Route 66. The people were lovely and hospitable. The race picture with time is a great idea. I plan on seeing you in your fair city next November 18th, 2007. Thanks! | |

 "Great Day Great Run for Tulsa" (about: 2006)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 What a great day for a marathon and what a great day for Tulsa. The city came out and showed up very well for all of the runners. The spectators were out in good numbers at many locations along the route. The volunteers were very good at all of the water stops and before and after the race. Having run large marathons in the past, I wondered how my home town would turn out and everything was great. Thanks Tulsa. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 This was my fifth half marathon in a year, and by far my favorite. The course was very well supported, and the scenery was beautiful. It was nice coming home for this race. I do wish that there were more perks for the halfers. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 2 The course was excellent. Just enough hills to keep it interesting. The organization was really great. There was no confusion, the mile markers were large enough to see from a distance. Great water stations, enthusiastic volunteers. Could have been more porta-potties on the course and many more spectators. It got kinda lonesome at times. An appropriate finishers medal. I'll be back next year. | |

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 Nice job on the inaugural event. From beginning to end, everything was well organized. The water stations were spaced nicely and had plenty of volunteers. The announcers at the end were better than any I have ever experienced. Their enthusiasm was appreciated. The post race was great. Good food and plenty of it. I never did see a massage tent. They need to look into post race massages. My only real complaint was the mile markers. Everything was fine until mile 15. Something was way off around this marker. Later in the race around mile 22 or 23, I thought I missed a marker but I then came across it. I'm nowhere near the front of the pack but I didn't run any 14 minute miles like the marker suggested. While running up the very steep hils at the end, you want to be assured the markers are accurate. I also heard complaints from those wearing Garmins that they finished with 26.7 miles. I don't think the Garmins are 100% accurate but that's a big difference. All in all, it was a great day and a very good marathon. 50 staters should consider this event. Just be aware of the hills at the end. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 2 I thought more of the race should have been on old route 66. I understand logistics and all. The first aid stations were not great, overall it was nicely organized for the first one. |
