Have run it for the third and final year of my life on my 21st. Did my sub-4 finally, so am retiring and concentrating on half marathons. What a course. Beautiful countryside when it?s not cloudy like this year. Shame we lost the massage facilities this year and the bar was so expensive, but well worth doing in your careers.

I saw there were no comments on this race, so I'll have to give my 2 pence. Described as an undulating course my mile splits ranged from about 6:06-7:20. Yeah that's right; undulating (=hilly). Lots of uphill on the way out and a few nice long fast downhills at about 16-20 miles and then some real killers at the end. Still I managed a PR so it couldn't have been that bad ( I just winge a lot). The course is a big figure 8 with very little repetition of any roads and it is beautiful countryside. Ran it in 2001, the first year & it wasn't a very big race. No organizational issues. Adequate H20 stations. Don't think they had gels. Good facility for the start/finish although no public transportation closeby (should be called the Leicestershire marathon as it is not run from Leicester, nor does the course enter Leicester). Enthusiastic fan support even if not large in numbers. Roads were not closed but it was never an issue for me, drivers were courteous. Overall, well worth doing, but the hills can be tough. Also has a half marathon event.

"Well organised but very hilly." (about: 2002)

A very well organised race, excellent facilities at the start in Mallory Park. The Race incorporates a half marathon until the spilt at 7 miles after that its a bit lonely, lots of rolling hills, the race marshalls are very encouraging though. A tough race to finish the year.
