Everyone is so nice. I am used to the larger marathons, so I was a bit worried knowing that there were only about 300 runners. It was one of the BEST that I've run. The course was flat and fast and I personally liked the 4 loops; it almost made it easier psychologically. Ran a PR. Not many spectators but there was one woman out on the course who was such a great cheerleader; I looked forward to hearing her cheer me on. The other runners are also very supportive of each other, so you have a field of supporters. Thanks to everyone involved, and the volunteers ROCK! Steve and Paula are so kind and helpful.

Fast, flat, well-planned, well-stocked, out-and-back course on a concrete running trail along Lake Houston. The goodies (t-shirt, hat, medal, and finisher's monkey) are fantastic. That's right. You heard me. Finisher's monkey. All-you-can-eat pizza and soda after the race. Staffed by passionate runners who are totally into it. If you want to qualify for Boston, this is the one!

This was my first marathon and my first time in Texas. The course is flat and beautiful and the people are incredibly supportive. The low humidity and mild temperature help a lot as well. The hotel recommended on the website was also accommodating in allowing marathoners a late check-out so that we could shower after the race.

This was my first marathon and I couldn't have picked a better one to do. The volunteers were wonderful and all the runners were supportive of each other. I loved that your name was handwritten on your bib and the signs they posted for everyone was a great touch. Thanks for making my first marathon such a great experience.

Just want to thank organizers and volunteers for the outstanding preparation and support during the race (especially the "motivation sheets" for every runner). So overall - it was definitely worthwhile to come all the way from cold Canada.

The course was also very nice and running the loops was much more fun than we expected.

This was so much fun. It was my first marathon and thought everything was organized very well. The weather was perfect. There was plenty of food. The course was beautiful. The runners were great at supporting one another. It would have been nice to have a few more spectators, but the ones who were there were fantastic, calling us by name. What a fun run!

AMAZING 0 this marathon was very well run and the atmosphere was fantastic. The fan support was unbelievable. PowerAde, water and food every 1.5 miles, and the people running were a hoot! Beautiful scenery and the personalized signs of every runner's name was just an inspiration. Thank you, Steve and Paula.

This is a great, "small town" marathon. The 4 out-and-back loops were a bit tough mentally but the scenery is beautiful. The support is wonderful and the runners are all very supportive of each other. Your name is HANDwritten on your bib so everyone can cheer for you. The stuffed monkey with your place was fun. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to PR.

Cool way to ring in the new year; incredibly beautiful course. So much for your money - all KINDS of pizza, PB&J, cookies, hat, shirt, monkey, mug. LOTS of diversity among the small field, very kind available organizers. Extremely cool. Even the course being a loop was not so bad. The names on the bibs was nice, as well as names on the trees. Very good.
