What a fun race to be a part of in the sunny Okanagan. Organizers and volunteers did a fantastic job. Plenty of water and PowerGel stations and cheering fans. Really fun to pass the half marathon racers when they started 30 minutes before the marathon.

This was my first ever marathon with a time of 3:34:46; 4th in my category, 20-29 males. Can't wait for next year!

Only two hills, but lots of tight corners?! Excellent weather and NO traffic problems at all! My congratulations for that! Lots of happy volunteers -thank you.

Did that basketball-playing woman (bib 7020) from Chilliwack finish? I didn't see you at the finish line.

First I would have to say the support from the citizens of Kelowna are the best. Nothing but support from everyone and could never thank the volunteers enough!

The course was good, tons of aid stations! And the cheers from the drivers in traffic were great!

"Good sushi, peach iced tea" (about: 1998)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Okanagan Marathon

I ran this marathon in 1998. I was 11th overall, Noriko Kawaguchi Fr; Japan won that year. 2 miles to go a policeman told us to turn on some street and we were lost for about 5 minutes, then we found the course again and it was too late. She was 10th and then me.

I was upset, but the race was good, met some good people and had the best iced tea I have ever had. Then I carbo-loaded on Sushi at One Man Sushi with 2 blonde ladies. I was hoping to see Japanese people, but no luck. Those 2 ladies fed me well and ordered some white rice just in case. Everyone at my hotel would say, "Good luck, hope you win." My hotel was at the lake - it was big and very nice.

There were some hills and at the end we ran down a small one. I had a fun sub 2:50. If that policeman was not in that location, I know we could have run 2:45.

I like the town and had a good time. Linda took care of me, and I still stay in touch with Noriko Kawaguchi (2:28 woman).

"Flat course, plenty of water, well organized" (about: 2003)

Congratulations to all finishers... and a big thanks very much to John MacDonald and all his team of volunteers for a well organized race. Big thanks to Caroline, Val and Terry at the Running Room Kelowna for all the encouragment. Thanks also to the City of Kelowna for allowing the closure of many streets this year and to the residents and motoring public for their patience and understanding. Through the hard work of everyone involved with bringing this premier race to fruition, I was able to post a PR which allows me now to turn my attention to Boston. Again, to everyone who helped or volunteered on Sunday that I didn't get an opportunity to thank personally, a big thank you.

"Excellent Event - Great Experience!" (about: 2001)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

I ran my first half marathon here and thought the people from the Running Room and all the volunteers did a fantastic job. Friendly people, very good organization, plenty of water stations, and a FLAT course with nice lake views made this an amazing experience. Not much in the way of crowd support, although the people that were there were very encouraging. This is an excellent event, one that I would run again in the future. Kelowna is a beautiful city and the Okanagan Valley is definitely worth checking out.

"A very good marathon in a beautiful area!" (about: 2000)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

The course is good, but don't expect to see a lot of fans along the way. No major hills to deal with and the weather conditions in 2000 were simply ideal for running. It has a great group of organizers! The bottles of Okanagan Valley wines with special labels for the marathon are particularly nice.

"Wonderful Area to Visit" (about: 1999)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

Great area to visit. Basically out and back course, run partly over the park system over local roads and returns to the start. Lots of fruit trees grown in the area. See some great mountain areas.
