Gene Brock of Arlington is low-tech. So low-tech that entering the fortieth running of the Dallas White Rock Marathon was the most difficult thing about the race. Brock was able to enter the race and hopes to be the oldest finisher of the marathon.

   Golden Double In Marathon (Business Mirror)
Eduardo "Bertek" Buenavista took home the gold medal at the twenty-fifth Southeast Asian Games with a winning time of 2 hours 21 minutes and 10 seconds. Jho-An Banayag sprinted the homestretch to win the women's marathon with a time of 2 hours 46 minutes and 34 seconds.
 
   Banayag Almost Quit Race (Manilla Bulletin)
Jho-An Banayag was rushed to the medical clinic after coming from behind in the last twenty meters to catch a fading Sunisa Sailomyen of Thailand to win the women's marathon in the Southeast Asian Games

   Tabut And Jebet Take 2009 White Rock Marathon (Examiner.com)
The fortieth annual Dallas White Rock Marathon saw Kenyan Edward Tabut take the overall title with a time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 55 seconds to lead an all-Kenyan sweep of the days events.

Weather and a fast pace proved beneficial for defending champion Patrick Ivuti of Kenya as he won the Honolulu Marathon with a time of 2 hours 12 minutes and 14 seconds.

   Cooler Conditions Didn't Faze Women's Dallas White Rock Marathon Winner (Dallas Morning News)
Rose Jebet arrived in Dallas near 6 pm on Saturday and that proved to be enough time to eat, rest and win the women's division of the marathon with a time of 2 hours 48 minutes and 21 seconds.

The thirty-seventh annual Honolulu Marathon saw more than twenty-three thousand runners and walkers toe the line. Kenyan Patrick Ivuti successfully defended his title with a time of 2 hours 12 minutes and 14 seconds.
 
   Zakharova Wins Honolulu Marathon For Third Time (Honolulu Star Bulletin)
Svetlana Zakharova of Russia won her third Honolulu Marathon in the women's division with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 34 seconds. She ran with defending champion Kyoko Shimahara until mile 18.
 
   39-Year-Old Makes Triumphant Return In Women's Race (Honolulu Advertiser)
Svetlana Zakharova put on an impressive finish to win the women's division of the Honolulu Marathon with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 34 seconds. Zakharova walked away with forty-thousand dollars for her victory.

   Tabut Of Kenya Dashes To PR, Win In Men's Dallas White Rock Marathon (Dallas Morning News)
Edward Tabut ran stride for stride with his AmeriKenyan Running Club teammates until past half way. Tabut would win the overall marathon title with a time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 53 seconds.

   Thousands Participate In 37th Annual Honolulu Marathon (KHON.com)
The thirty-seventh annual Honolulu Marathon greeted twenty-three thousand runners with cool weather and clear skies. More than half of all participants were from Hawaii.

   Kenyans Winners In 40th Dallas White Rock Marathon (Dallas Morning News)
Fog may have slowed down the aerial coverage of the Dallas White Rock Marathon but Edward Tabut of Kenya surged to the lead at mile 18 and went on to win the men's race with a time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 53 seconds.
 
 Rocket City Marathon

   Local Runner Riddle Wins Rocket City Marathon (Huntsville-Times)
David Riddle won the Rocket City Marathon with a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 23 seconds. Riddle broke away from the pack at mile 15 and never looked back. Janet Cherobon won the women's title in 2 hours 37 minutes and 24 seconds.
 
 Kiawah Island Marathon

   Teal, Jacobs Top Field At Kiawah (Post and Courier)
The thirty-second annual Kiawah Island Marathon was won by debutante Blair Teal, 23, of Gastonia, North Carolina with a time of 2 hours 29 minutes and 57 seconds. Jenniifer Jacobs won her sixth consecutive women's title with a time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 34 seconds.

   Looking For A Repeat At Honolulu Marathon (Honolulu Star Advertiser)
Kiyoko Shimahara will compete in her third race since August when she toes the line to defend her title in the Honolulu Marathon. Former world record holder Margaret Okayo will be set to dethrone the returning champion.
 
   Elite Kenyan Runners Take Aim At Men's Record (Honolulu Advertiser)
Patrick Ivuti arrived later than expected into Honolulu and will spend Saturday just moving around after sitting on a plane for over a day. There are four men that have run under 2 hours and 10 minutes and could break the course record of 2 hours and 11 minutes.

   Kenyan Almost Smashes Haile’s Record (The Standard)
Nicholas Kamakya who finished second at the Beijing Marathon missed Haile Gebrselassie's world record in the 15 kilometer by two seconds. His time of 42 minutes and 38 seconds was set on the Wincanton 15K course on Monday.

   Kebede Sets Record For Marathon Triple (IAAF.org)
Tsegaye Kebeded won the Fukuoka Marathon in 2 hours 5 minutes and 18 seconds. He also ran 2 hours 5 minutes and 20 seconds in London and 2 hours 8 minutes and 35 seconds in Berlin. An average of 2 hours 6 minutes and 24 seconds for a new triple marathon record.

Tsegaye Kebede, Ethiopia, ran away with the sixty-third Fukuoka International Marathon with the ninth fastest marathon time in the world of 2 hours 5 minutes and 18 seconds.
 
 Cayman Islands Marathon

   Steady Speirs Returns In Style (Caymanian Compass)
Steve Speirs won the Cayman Islands Marathon with a time of 2 hours 59 minutes and 5 seconds. Pre-race favorite Scott Brittain dropped out of the race a few miles prior to the finish of the 26.2 mile race.
 
 Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon

Christopher Toroitich and Caroline Rotich won the men and women's titles of the Las Vegas Marathon. Toroitich finished in 2 hours 15 minutes and 15 seconds.

Kenyans Christopher Toroitich and Carloine Rotich topped the winners list at the Las Vegas Marathon on Sunday. Toroitich won the overall title with a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 15 seconds.

   Cellcom Green Bay Marathon Spreads Its Races Over 2 days (Green Bay Press Gazette)
The Green Bay Marathon will expand to a two-day format to reduce congestion and allow for more participants. The marathon and marathon-relay will be held on Sunday May 16 while the shorter races are held on Saturday.

After some congestion issues during the 2009 Myrtle Beach Maraton race organizers will spread the course throughout the Market Common area. The half-marathon has already filled to capacity and the marathon should sell out by Christmas.

   Amputee Hopes To Help Others Through Her Running (Dallas Morning News)
Amy Palmiero-Winters ran the Dallas White Rock Marathon. Winters, an amputee, ran along side of 6-year-old Ryanne Carr who completed the 26.2 mile race in her wheel chair. Winters holds twelve world records for amputee athletes.
