Park your car anywhere on
Pier Ave in Hermosa Beach (but remember to feed the meter) then
head west on Pier until you hit the Hermosa Beach pier and the bike path. If you head north on the bike path for about 1 mile you will pass the beach house from the old TV series 90210. Go another 0.5 miles and you will hit the Manhattan Beach Pier. Continue north for another 2 or 3 miles and you will hit a hang glider flying school and you will be in the flight path of LAX where you will find low flying planes every 5 minutes or so. Continue north another 3 miles and you will hit Marina Del Rey Harbor. The Pacific Ocean is literally a few feet from you the entire way. A round trip is about 15 miles. On the other hand, you could go south from the Hermosa Beach Pier. This will take you past King Harbor, the Redondo Beach Pier, and Torrance Beach. If you are adventuresome you can head up into the hills of the Palos Verdes Peninsula from the southern end of the bike path. Round trip is about 7.5 miles. |
