Favorite Runs - Naha Marathon

| Description: | Naha Marathon starts in early December on the Island of Okinawa. It starts and finishes in Onoyama park, and encompasses the southern tip of the island. What makes this run so memorable is that the entire route is lined with supporters from the local community. Route only has 1 major hill from the 16-21k mark. The local okinawans are very generous with the drinks, food, occasional sports creme/spray (much welcomed after 35K!!), and motivational taiko drums! Truly a great run. Expect about 20-25K runners. Only downside is that it starts at 0900, and gets hot QUICK - more incentive to finish faster. Spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and East China Sea, as well as many small towns. |
