Plainfield is located in central Vt on US RT 2. In the center of town turn off Rt 2 @ the only flashing light. Proceed straight up hill 1/3 mile. Park in area just past
the cemetery. Old railroad bed
is packed cinders. Run to Groton (lake) for 16 miles. Slight uphill for 12 miles but generally flat. Portions of bed is open to traffic BUT you can run all 16 and back, 32 for college grads, without seeing a car. Several ponds, cliffs and all sorts of wildlife including good chance of spotting moose. Bring water. No houses,stores etc. Avoid blackflies in June. |
