I had trained for the 26th running of the Marine corps marathon since Feburary 2001. I ran the 26th MCM this past Sunday 10/28/2001. It was an awesome and unforgettable experience. I pulled it off in 4hours and 17 minutes. The course is flat for the most part. The support from the crowds is *phenominal*. Everybody is a *star*. There is plenty of aid throughout the entire course. Ultima and water are the fluids. Occasionally the volunteers and marines handed out sliced oranges and energy bars. At mile 22nd, we ran past a live music band. We ran by the pentagon from miles 4 through 6. Some 18000 runners had gathered at the start line. I will if I am lucky come back to run the 27th Marine corps marathon.
