Favorite Runs - Whistle Stop Marathon

Location:	Ashland, WI, USA
Description:	This was my first marathon! My son ran the half a couple of years back and suggested I do the same. I was trained up due to my summer events and thought I'd go all out! As a late registrant I had trouble finding a place to stay. I worked with the Ashland Chamber and they were able to find a great cabin near the starting line. The weather was great and the fall colors even better. I saw the pictures online and thought those were the exception...but no, those were the rule. Although it can get lonely on a trail run (and it is a trail run), there were plenty of spots for fans to find us throughout the race (my wife saw me about a half-dozen times), and the volunteers were excellent! I can't imagine a better "first-time race," like mine, or a better "every-year race." A fun, fast, beautiful trail, and a great time!
