The 9th Annual Fight for Air Lung Walk presented by Community Bank of Broward will take place on Saturday, October 3RD 2009 at Huizenga Plaza in Las Olas Riverfront. Online Registration is available at www.lungwalksouthflorida.com. Registration begins at 8:15am & the walk starts at 9:30am. We anticipate well over 1000 walkers to participate in this worthwhile cause. Lung disease is the number three killer in America, responsible for one in six deaths. Lung disease and other breathing problems constitute one of the leading causes of deaths in babies younger than one year old. Today, more than 35 million Americans are living with chronic lung disease such as asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) otherwise known as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. In South Florida there are approximately 98,000 children with Asthma. As a result of these alarming statistics we are holding our Fight for Air Lung Walk presented by Community Bank of Broward with proceeds benefiting local lung programs, education, patients and research at the Asthma Clinical Research Center. |
