On a recent trip to Orlando, I went out running only to find that the intense heat was almost unbearable. This route is not good for any particular reason, other than the fact that it has 2 outdoor water fountains along it, saving me from going indoors, in to hotel lobbies all sweaty. I left from the Radisson Twin Towers, and headed over to the Portofino Hotel. As you run in and face the courtyard, there is a waterfountain far up on the left side, in a little nook. You can run loops around the man-made lake there, which I estimate is about 3/4 miles. From there, you can hug the walking trail under the bridge, past the HardRock Hotel, and in to the Universal Entrance. As you go to the main gate, just on the right side of the ticket counters, there is another waterfountain. I'd estimate this to be about a little over a mile from the last waterfountain. Knowing the placement of these 2, I was able to use the adjoining paths and nearby sidewalks to find good routes. These 2 locations were always points that I would pass. With the tremendous heat, it was a necessity. |
