gorgeous run through the LBJ National Grasslands

Super organization and well-run race about 1 hour northwest of Dallas. The race description mentioned sand, and about 1/3 of the course was sandy from 1-2 inches to 6-7 inches. But the rest of the course was dirt or running through the grasslands. No spectators but the volunteers were awesome. I love small races where I can lose myself in my thoughts and the surroundings and this one checked both of those boxes.

Excellent course for a first trail marathon

Gentle, easy course for a first trail marathon. Very well organized and a fun event overall!

Fun race - definitely a

This was a very fun trail race. It was my first trail marathon. I was told to expect to fall a couple times and get lost. I did both :-) The first loop ended up being a little more confusing than the map indicated, and a few of us who were separated from the leaders ran a little extra credit. The trails are real. It's very scenic, but the terrain ranges from mud, sand, to hardened mud w/ horse tracks, to rocky, to nice packed dirt. It's a slow race, so be ready to be out there for awhile.
