Deadline Extended For Marathon Relay Teams
Mayor To Host Lunch for Winners
LITTLE ROCK, ARK. (April 22, 2003) – The deadline for relay teams
to register for the Little Rock Marathon has been extended through the May
4 race day, with the winning teams to be treated to lunch by Little Rock
Mayor Jim Dailey.
Dailey, a relay participant, issued a challenge Tuesday to
businesses, clubs and groups to form a two-person or four-person relay team
to complete the 26.2-mile course.
"I challenge corporations and other groups large and small to show
your city pride by entering a relay team," Dailey said. "With the teams
already registered and more signing up every day, this first-time event is
already a success."
Dailey said lunch for the winners of the two-person and four-person
teams will be at a Little Rock restaurant at a date and time to be
determined after the race.
Each team member must complete their leg of the relay and
individuals may participate on one team only. There is no limit to the
number of teams a group may enter.
The relay covers the same course as the Marathon. Each relay
exchange area will be a mini finish line with a medal ceremony and photo
finish.
The Little Rock Marathon and Marathon Relays will benefit Little
Rock Parks and Recreation and the Arkansas Chapter of the Arthritis
Foundation.
To register, or for more information, call Little Rock Parks and Recreation
at 371-4770, or visit the Web site at www.littlerockmarathon.com.
