Press Release - Twin Cities Marathon - 9/27/23

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Minnesota's Marathon King Eyes Fifth Twin Cities Title
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Welcomes Pros for 10 Mile & Marathon

St. Paul, Minn. - September 27, 2023 - Domonic Ondoro, the men's course
record-holder and four-time Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon champion, will
return to the streets and parkways of Minneapolis and St. Paul on October 1
aiming to add to his already-packed marathon résumé at this year's
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.

Not only does the 35-year-old Kenyan hold the Medtronic Twin Cities
Marathon course record at 2:08:51, he also holds the Grandma's Marathon
record where he is a two-time champion. Compatriot Milton Rotich, the 2021
Grandma's Marathon champion with a 2:08:55 personal best to his credit, is
Ondoro's most likely challenger in the men's field that will race for a
$10,000 winner's check and $26,000 in prize money.

Kenya's Helen Jepkurgat, 42, a Grandma's and City of Los Angeles Marathon
champion, sports the fastest personal best in the field at 2:29:10, but
expects challenges form Denver's Brittany Charboneau, 35, a 2:33:14 runner
and local favorite Breanna Sieracki of Burnsville, who ran 2:33:26 at
Grandma's this summer. The women will also race for $10,000 winner's prizes
and a $26,000 purse.

An additional $26,000 prize pot will be split among U.S. men and women who
notch Olympic Trials qualifying marks of 2:18:00/2:37:00, respectively, at
this year's Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. The 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials
Marathons are scheduled for February 3, 2024, in Orlando and will pick the
Team USA for the 2024 Paris Games.

"Marathoners with Olympic ambitions depend on prize money to advance as
athletes and expand the limits of our sport," Twin Cities In Motion
president Dean Orton said. "We're pleased to reward the Olympic aspirants
that run our races with awards that recognize their achievements and
advance their dreams."

The 25th Anniversary Medtronic TC 10 Mile also features professional
fields, $6000 winner's prizes for men and women and $15,000 prize purses.
James Ngandu (Kenya) and Zouhair Talbi (Morocco) are the men's favorites.
Mare Dibaba (Ethiopia), the 2015 World Marathon Champion and an Olympic
bronze-medalist, is the most decorated runner in the women's field, where
she's likely to be challenged by Mercy Chelangat (Kenya) and Laura Thweatt
(USA).

Top men's and women's wheelchair athletes - including defending champions
Wyatt Willand and Hannah Babalola -- will compete for $1000 winners' prize
and cash awards are also available to top Minnesota finishers, top
Minnesota masters (age 40+) and top nonbinary runners.

Eight-thousand runners are expected for this year's Medtronic Twin Cities
Marathon. More than 12,000 runners are registered for the 25th Anniversary
Medtronic TC 10 Mile. Both races run on Sunday, October 1 from downtown
Minneapolis to the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul.
