Press Release - Little Rock Marathon - 2/24/14

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

                     Little Rock Marathon Announces 
    Street Closures and Expected Traffic Delays for 12th Annual Events

(Little Rock, Ark. – February 24, 2014) – More than 15,000 athletes and 
40,000 spectators will take to the streets on Sunday, March 2nd for the 
Little Rock Marathon, presented by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette - and many 
of those streets will be closed for part of the day to create a safe 
environment for participants both on and off the course.

"These closures provide a safe environment for runners and spectators, as 
well as the least amount of inconvenience to residents and businesses in 
our community," said Gina Marchese Pharis, Co-Executive Director of the 
Little Rock Marathon. "We appreciate the support from everyone who makes 
this epic event possible."

The following times and locations for street closures are listed below:
 
Thursday, February 27, 2014

7:00 am – 9:00 pm Right Lane Closure La Harpe Blvd from State St. to 
                  Convention Center 

Friday, February 28 to Sunday, March 3, 2014

7:00 am – 9:00 am President Clinton from River Market Ave to Ferry St.

Saturday, March 1, 2014 - Closure 

5:00 am           La Harpe WB from Cumberland/President Clinton to Cross
5:00 am           President Clinton at Cumberland to include Rock, River 
                  Market St., Sherman & Ferry all at 2nd St   
5:00 am           2nd & Cumberland (Close I-30 off ramp and Detour to 2nd 
                  St Ramp)         
5:00 am           Close off ramp from Broadway Bridge to La Harpe WB
5:00 am           EB La Harpe at State
5:00 am           La Harpe at Cross EB Detour to Cross St. 
6:00 am           3rd at Broadway, close NB lane East side (5K is turning 
                  N on Broadway at 3rd) Right lane closure
6:00 am           Chester at Markham NB & SB (5K runs NB on Chester to 
                  LaHarpe)
6:00 am           State at Markham NB 
6:00 am           3rd & Cumberland to La Harpe NB & SB
9:00 am           EB Markham at Scott 
9:45 am           I- 30 EB off ramp to 2nd St (Kids Marathon) LPPD Vehicle
9:45 am           I-30 WB off ramp to 2nd St.(Kids Marathon) LRPD Vehicle

Sunday, March 2, 2014 – Closure

4:00 am           LaHarpe WB from President Clinton to Cross
4:00 am           President Clinton to include Rock, River Market St, 
                  Sherman, Ferry at 2nd St.

                  Rock & 2nd, place type 3 barricade on Rock so they can 
                  access parking lot and garage

4:00 am           President Clinton to include Cumberland WB and one lane 
                  of SB (east side close) up to Scott 
                    
                  St. WB leaving South lane EB open to Cumberland to allow 
                  access to I-30

4:00 am           3rd & Cumberland to La Harpe NB & SB
4:00 am           4th & Broadway NB
4:00 am           2nd & Cumberland (Close I-30 off ramp and Detour to 2nd 
                  St Ramp)
4:00 am           Chester at Markham EB & WB
4:00 am           North St at La Harpe
4:00 am           Markham at State EB & WB of Intersection
4:00 am           Close off ramp from Broadway Bridge to La Harpe WB
4:00 am           La Harpe at Cross EB Detour to Cross St. 
4:00 am           North St. WB at LaHarpe
5:00 am           Cantrell Hill inside lane all the way to Lookout Road. 
                  (Right Lane Closure) 

Sunday, March 2, 2014 – Reopening

Roads open up as participants go through the course.  The entire course 
should be open for traffic at approximately 3 pm.
