Kipchumba leads Kenyan sweep at Belgrade Marathon

The twenty-first edition of the Belgrade Marathon greeted runners with 70 degree temperatures on a dry day. The Kenyans seemed to enjoy the weather as the swept the top 3 over all places. Kipchumba finished in 2 hours, 14 minutes, 3 seconds. Jonathan Kipsaina was second in 2:16.14, ahead of Victor Mangusho Robert with 2:16.47. Natalia Chatkina of Belorussia won the women's race in 2:46.24.

Olivera Jevtic did not disappoint her home fans, when she won the 20th Belgrade Banca Intesa Marathon, in 2:35:46. The battle of the celebrity coaches was won in a pesonal best of 2:11:53, by John Maluni of Kenya on behalf of Cosmas Ndeti, the three-time Boston Marathon winner.

Commonwealth champion Thabiso Moqhali of Lesotho inflicted a rare reversal on Kenyan runners when he won the Belgrade Marathon on Saturday.
To make mattters worse for the Kenyans competing in the Yugoslav capital, Moqbali's colleague Percy Sephooa finished second.
