Tanzania's Bayo wins Tokyo marathon

Zebedayo Bayo of Tanzania won the Tokyo International Marathon in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 7 seconds, which is only 16 seconds off his personal best. Japan's Shigeru Aburaya came in second, 4 kilometers after Bayo.

Tanzania's Bayo Amnaay wins Tokyo marathon

Zebedayo Bayo Amnaay to have won this weekend's Tokyo International Marathon, he had to make up for a 40-meter deficit with second place finisher Shigeru Aburaya. Bayo managed to do so, winning the race in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 7 seconds.

Tanzania Continues Marathon Success in Tokyo

Tanzania's Zebedayo Bayo last made headlines in 1998 when he won third place in the New York City Marathon. This year he is making them for winning first place at the Tokyo International Marathon, winning with a time of 2:09:07. Japan's pre-race favorite was Shigeru Aburaya who came in second place in the event.
