One of the Best Marathon Experiences I have had

It is really unfortunate that this was the last year for the marathon, but I am glad I got to run it in its last year. This was an excellent experience put on by a small community. The Amish people were wonderful and actively participated and cheered on the runners. There were massages, showers, great food, everything you would want post-race. On the course the support was excellent. The hills were exactly what was advertised so having trained for it, I did not have issues with them. It was out-of-control hot in the 2018 race and a lot of people were burning out near the end due to that but it was still a great experience.

Well run but difficult

I'm not sure what I was expecting but this course was a lot more difficult than I expected. Rolling hills with not much flat spots. I wish I had prepared better but it was a beautiful course.The organization was top notch; they know how to provide for runners (received a T-shirt and a Tech shirt, nice!). Volunteers were very nice and helpful. Not a lot of spectators but I think I was actually cheered on by a cow.Overall great experience and I would highly recommend it!

Race organizers are offering early-bird and online registration discounts for the fourth annual Garden Spot Village Marathon, to be held on Sat., Mar. 31, 2012. Discounts apply to individual marathoners, four-person relay teams and half-marathon participants. Individual adult participants receive a $30 discount if the register by Jan. 3, 2011; relay teams get a discount of $120.

Garden Spot Village Announces Final Marathon Results

Lowell Ladd, 35, of Eagleville, Pa., finished first in the Garden Spot Village marathon on Sat., Apr. 9, with a time of 2:46:15. Katie Shelley, 22, of Columbia, Pa., finished first in the Women's Division and 17th overall, with a time of 3:16:16. Steven Monteleone, 21, of Berkeley Heights, N.J., was first across the finish line, winning the half marathon with a time of 1:16:36.

New Gardenspot Village Marathon Awards Structure Attracts Senior Athletes

A new awards structure that recognizes runners in age brackets up to 85 and beyond appears to be attracting a high number of "masters" to the annual Garden Spot Village Marathon, which will be held this year on Sat., Apr. 9, starting and finishing on the campus of the retirement community at 433 S. Kinzer Ave.
