Tough course but worth it
This was my first time running this particular marathon and I had heard it was hilly. If you aren't prepared for it like me, it will tear you up. My Garmin registered a total elevation gain of about 1600 feet. For a road marathon! I felt it the next day but I am so ready to do it again next year. The weather was beautiful and sunny (which for Missouri you can't always count on). The course was a point to point and even running slow in the back, there was no getting lost. I always had someone in my sights in front to of me and behind me. Aid stations were every couple miles I think? I mean there was PLENTY of aid stations. I had never seen so many. with not just water and electrolyte drinks. Also snacks of some sort including pickle juice at one point. At the end I was given my medal by a veteran which was awesome! I will have to say that this is my 2nd favorite marathon right behind Chicago. It was awesome! Did I say that already?
