Amazing race that got me my BQ!
Not a ton of spectators but that was to be expected for the small race, but the support was amazing!! The spectators that were there cheered loud and the pacers were incredible. The marathon course is 8 laps, so you have to be mentally prepared for that, but it's a beautiful route and super well organized race. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to BQ!

Very well organized!
This race is designed to specifically help you accomplish a BQ. The pacers were great, the race was well organized, and the communication beforehand regarding details was excellent. Ran Spring Chance 2025 and did accomplish my goal. Weather was perfect and there were no surprises on the course. The loop course is great for spectators to easily move around to cheer you on throughout the race.

Best Race EVER!!!
The organization of this race is top tier! I couldn't even come up with questions to ask because everything was laid out so well! The race directors did such an amazing job making this marathon experience TOP TIER! Awesome course, volunteers were so helpful, and pre race run/setup was such a neat bonus!

Excellent organization, pacing & support!
The crew really does everything to help you get your BQ. I can't thank the pacers enough! I thought I might not like the race being a 3-mile loop, but it meant there were always people and support around which really helped.

This is the BQ You're Looking For!
This was my dream race. Although the temperatures climbed a bit higher than I would have liked for the Spring 2023 edition, I'm more of a warmer weather runner anyway and the mid 60's start made it easy to get up to speed right away. With a mostly flat, looped course, and an elite style water bottle table, I couldn't have asked for a better setup. The pacers were amazing, the spectators were supportive, and the logistics made everything stress free! This is a race I'd gladly run every year!

Great race and course, and EXTREMELY well organizd
This was my first attempt to BQ for 2024 and I ran this race a couple of days ago (on 4/15/2023). Unfortunately I did not qualify because of the weather (64 at start and 72 at finish). I wish it were 15 degs cooler. BUT, this is an amazing race. The course is flat. There is great course support - 2 aid stations, 1 elite bottle station, and an energy gel station. Volunteers and course organizers did an amazing job. I might sign-up again. I highly recommend this race.

Great course, bad photographers
Great course, pretty well organized. They should have definitely gotten more porta potties since the line was very long at all times. Staff were very nice, but the photographer missed my finishing photo. You had one job buddy...

The Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon is a great race!
The Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon was an awesome experience. This was only my 2nd marathon and the first race I've been able to run in 2 years, due to a series of injuries. The most recent one was a pubic ramus stress fracture and it took 8 months to heal. Just to be able to toe the line was an accomplishment in itself for me and I was very excited to be able to do this in Geneva. The course is mostly flat and entailed a 2 small loop spur but then 8 loops around for the large loop. I enjoyed running the bridges and through the wooded area on the backside of the course. It reminded me of my training on the ATT in North Carolina. The race director was very informative and answered any questions I had. He and the staff/volunteers really orchestrated a top-notch event and everything flowed very smoothly the day of the race! Also, the weather was very unpredictable leading up to the race and the high that day ended up being in the 80's!! It got very warm as the morning went on but there were so many volunteers to make sure runners were staying hydrated and fueled! I was happy to finish 1st female overall, even with the weather conditions and challenges we all had to overcome. I'm grateful to all the staff and volunteers for making this such an amazing experience. Thank you all sooo much!

Trying to BQ? This is for you.
First time running this race and I didn't know what to expect. 8 laps around a park sounded...unexciting. The weather was not helpful (warmer than average/usual).
But the experience at packet pickup was wonderful: it felt like a hometown 5K instead of a huge expo to navigate. And the water bottle table was a game changer. (Pro tip: freeze your later lap water bottles to pour over yourself if it's hot out. The race provides plenty of hydration.) And the race was wonderful: the crowd was perfect and just where we needed them, lots of EMT presence just in case, the course was perfect with few twists and turns and by lap 2, we knew where they were. And the course was lovely. But most importantly, race organization was perfection: great info, super helpful staff, and the pacers were amazing. Can't recommend the race enough. I finished with a 9 min BQ cushion and would be happy to run this again.

A well organize race with great course
It was a great race, even though the weather ended up being not ideal. Craig, the race director, was very helpful with my many emails prior to the race. I really enjoyed having an elite style personal fueling table and also enjoyed the course very much (actually really liked that it was 8 loops - helped me know what to expect). The tee shirt material wasn't great but ultimately, I ran 3 minutes below my BQ time so that's the most important thing. What I didn't like was the company that was in charge of chip timing. It missed 1 or 2 of my laps and initially showed that I didn't finish the race! When I contacted the company, they were able to fix it quickly and show that I did finish the race, but my splits were totally messed up and they weren't able to fix it. Also, the email responses were short & rude.

Great Race. Very Well Run
I signed up for this race after a ton of internet research on April marathons. The weather in many parts of the country can be iffy in the Spring, so weather was a non-factor in my decision (there's literally nothing you can do about weather!). This course presented as a flat, fast option to earn that coveted Boston Qualifier. Packet pickup was at the race start on the day before the race. The Race Director was on hand to answer any questions. This race features the ability for runners to place water bottles on designated tables just like the 'Elites' at major races. HUGE perk of this race. This gives a runner the ability to have access to their fuel of choice without having to wear a belt or pack. This alone should be a deciding factor over other races.
Race morning was well-planned and seamless. Parking is located across the street from the park and volunteers help to guide runners to the race start. There are plenty of bathrooms pre-race and with the participation capped at 300 runners, there are no worries for bathroom lines.
The course itself is two small loops on a paved park path (about 25 yards of crushed gravel) and then 8 larger 3 mile loops. These larger loops have one small incline but otherwise are very flat. These loops cross two small wooden bridges as the course crosses over the Fox River. There were plenty of volunteers at the two designated water stations (water, Gatorade, etc) and the 'Elite' bottle tables were also very well staffed. Each time that a runner passed through the eventual finish area, the crowd support peaked and the race announcer would call out runners by name. This was huge boost.
Post hydration, food, and medical support (if needed) was top notch.
If you are looking for thousands of spectators, you're looking in the wrong place. If you're looking for a very well-run race on a fast, flat course, you've found it. After all, your goal is to qualify for Boston, and there will be plenty of crowd support out there.

Well organized, FAST, and access to your OWN fuel
I pr'd at this race by over 4 minutes and beat my BQ time by 20 minutes. I didn't feel my normal pre-race nerves because it was a small race (200ish runners) 8 x's around a 3 mile loop so I could access my own fuel and hydration every 3 miles. I think this was my first marathon that I actually nailed the fueling and that's why it went so well. Also, the river is beautiful, the pace teams are VERY talented, and the supporters along the course were wonderful. My only negative would be one section of the course is on sidewalks, suspension bridges, and semi uneven trail, but at least 2/3rd of the course is on a nice smooth paved bike path.

The organization of this race was outstanding!
The race was so well organized (esp during COVID). Volunteers were friendly and helpful. Everything ran so smoothly.
My biggest critique was that there were pedestrians/bikers on the course so you had to dodge them a few times. Overall, great experience!

Fast, flat, loop course with excellent volunteers
The course and volunteers are worth 6 stars if I could give them here.
The mostly asphalt loop course was well marked, accurately measured and almost pancake flat. Going around eight times helped me get water, Gatorade and gels in orderly fashion. Plus, runners can get into a strong and consistent running pattern, knowing where the turns, slight downhills and short uphills are. I knew exactly what the last 6 miles would look like, and for the first time in six marathons didn't slow down at mile 20. Finished with a 3:38:54, under the 4:05 BQ time for a 65-year-old male.
In addition, running around a beautiful lake and over several wooden bridges broke up the monotonous feeling that could have occurred.
The friendly volunteers got runners everywhere we needed to be on the morning of this pandemic-affected event. During the race, they were at every aid station yelling encouragement as we went by.
As for fans, this is probably not a race for any runner who needs large crowds cheering them on. Yes, there are several stretches where fans can congregate. But this is a marathon on a trail in a park, not on a road.
Organizers provided extensive pre-race information that was always welcome.
Overall, I heartily recommend this marathon for anyone serious about getting to Boston.

Absolutely great event
This event exceeded by far all my expectations, from the pre-race packet pick up to the post race amenities. Everything was perfectly organized, considering this year's particular challenges and complying with safety regulations.
Every volunteer helping with a big smile, all fellow runners encouraging and motivating along the course, and last but not least, every spectator cheering and clapping made this race so special.
From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU ALL! Congratulations for the amazing job!

I quite enjoyed the 'new' format!
Although I think we all want the pandemic behind us, so we do not have to wear masks, I really liked the wave assignment and staging from entrance/packet pick-up (if not done the day before) to bottle drop-off, pre-gear check, and gear check/warm-up. Each was just long enough...WELL DONE!!

Outstanding event - well organized, great course
Given the unique circumstances of COVID this race was organized and executed very well. The loop course is beautiful, not so flat so the legs would get stale. One side of the river is tree covered, the other side open to see the river. Spectators have plenty of access at the north and south ends of the course - very family friendly. The volunteers at packet pick and on race day were fabulous - very helpful, well informed and so supportive. The communication leading up to race day was frequent and addressed all issues. Race organizers did a lot of work to pull this off and it showed. I would recommend this event. And the surrounding towns are charming - a nice weekend getaway.

Great to be racing again!
Thank you for bringing racing back! Huge compliments to the organizers for pulling off a well-organized return to racing. I got a massive PR due, in part, to the structure and logistics of this race in particular. Specifically, the flat course, elite water bottle tables, wave starts, and spectator support (even done safely in the midst of COVID precautions) were key in helping maintain my goal pace. The one downside was that the 2021 course measured long, according to my GPS watch, as well as the watches and Stryd pods of others I ran by and others I have since found on Strava. I've seen total distances ranging from 26.35 to 26.8. This is important because the nominal point of this race is to help people qualify for Boston--the extra length added about 65 seconds to my time, which could be the difference between me running Boston and me trying again...

This was my first time running the BQ.2 and I was blown away in the level of organization and the thought that was put into our safety. From all the communication that consistently was being shared with us prior to race day to packet pick up the the race. The overall course was perfect and the weather was incredible. I'd recommend this race to everyone!

Great marathon for a BQ attempt!!
I love the BQ races. I'be ran the Chicago one twice and Grand Rapids once. I qualified in Grand Rapids but missed the cut. I qualified in Chicago both times. Each a PR, one by over 8 minutes, and the other by over 6 minutes. The course is great and I was fortunate to have ideal conditions each time. The race staff is fantastic!! Very well organized and great runner support. No big post race festivities or super great swag but I don't care about that. Nice shirts and medals. The real reward is Boston if you qualify.

Great BQ race.
Elite bottle and laps are solid advantages.
I cut corners hard and still 26.35. So cut corners as aggressively as you can.
There is 486' of elevation gain and net elevation gain of -20'. So using the 2 second per 10' gain rule the elevation is going to cost 1:36 secs.
Others will be on the course who aren't racing. Wasn't a problem but be aware.
The crowd support was the best. The lap set up makes it a great race to bring your crew too. No crew? no problem. Make sure you have your name on you and you'll get fans.
Great BQ and being your family race. But it's a straight up time trial type of race. If you look at results it's a clinic on pace management. Most have flat to neg splits.
Weather was really good. Slight southbound wind. Path pretty protected from sun and wind.

Poorly Run Race - Be Careful If It Is Cancelled
I signed up for the April 18, 2020, BQ2 Marathon. The race was cancelled. Apparently a mass email was sent to participants that they needed to make an election by August 1 to roll their entry to next year or the Fox Valley Marathon. The email by the race director must have got stuck in my spam filter because I never received it. I contacted the race director after August 1st and was told they would not accommodate me in any way because I did not respond by August 1. I would recommend people avoid this race company. Poor business practices and not runner friendly.

Cannot say enough great things about this race.
Excellent course for PR/BQ. Fast, flat, 8 loops & scenic. No vehicle traffic as on park pathway, the odd cyclist and some geese! Superb organisation in every aspect. Easy parking a very short walk to start. Not thousands of spectators but those there sure made up for it with terrific support & they got to recognise the runners due to it being a lap course. Excellent for family to spectate at.

Most fun I ever had running a marathon!
Most fun I ever had running a marathon! This race was recommended to me by someone in our running club and I will be forever grateful! This was my 6th marathon in as many years. Great conditions weather-wise, dry and cool, but the flatness of the course and familiarity of looping was also a big plus, knowing what to expect. This was the first marathon I didn't have to wear a fuel/water belt and that definitely was a big thing for me! Most races have plenty of water, but to have a Cliff Shot available every loop took away the anxiety of running out of fuel! I heard great comments about the music which I could only get momentarily with each loop, but absolutely LOVED the energy and encouragement of the Announcer that I could hear even when on the other side of the river! So well organized, too, for parking and post-race refreshments. I think I could have gone another loop or two...it was that energizing. Now I know why it's the #1 qualifier and can recommend it as it was recommended to me!

This marathon was exactly as billed! It gave the runners an exceptional opportunity to achieve a PR and a BQ. Added bonus was the strong support by the volunteers!

Great PR ready race even if you don't BQ!
I signed up for general entry after the race was opened to those not meeting BQ requirements. I have to compliment race directors- they have all the important logistical considerations taken care of!
Personally I like the multi loop format. This really helped me focus towards the end of the race- it's easier to think "just one more lap" than "three long miles to go". Plus the loop is beautiful, along the Fox river the entire time.
Also, I can honestly say this is the first marathon I have run where there were too many water stations. I am always worried about race day nutrition so this helped to have more options for hydration and gel than I needed.
Pace groups were similarly solid. Spectators were not as numerous as big city races but enthusiastic and you get to know them with the multiple loops.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a well run small race, but BQ.2 would be especially good for someone looking to try out an aggressive or atypical race strategy. If you go out and die, you are never more than 1.5 miles from the finish line!

Great race experience!
Very well organized and all the amenities of a large race! Staff and volunteers went out of their way to make this a great race experience! If you are trying to qualify for Boston, this is an excellent race to do so. The loop course helps the runner know what to expect on each loop. Water and supplement stations about every 1.5 miles. Could not ask for any better situation. Qualified with time to spare!

This is THE Boston Qualifier!
Having been so close to a qualifying time in the past, I had to change something. Firstly, I chose this marathon having read wonderful reviews of the course and, I must confirm, the course is as a perfect loop as advertised; as flat as you'll get. Secondly, I had to follower a pacer for most of the race to keep me on track (and not get carried away too soon); the pacer were amazing. Finally, the organizers and everyone involved is so wonderfully friendly! Everyone wants you to succeed. Believe me when I say that this is the platform for that BQ of yours!

Volunteers and pacers were fantastic. I qualified for Boston and I would recommend the BQ.2 marathons for anyone trying to qualify. I also ran Grand Rapids BQ.2 last fall. Qualified then as well but missed the cutoff. That won't happen this year. I'm in. Thank you Geneva Spring Chance BQ 2!!

Great race experience
You learn to appreciate certain things when it comes to marathon races. The logistics of getting to the starting line, not being impeded by slower runners that line up in the wrong corrals, courses that are over challenging or too "boring", etc.
The BQ.2 events are perfectly designed to make for a great race experience and after running it 3 times, I have not one single complaint.
Thanks to all the race organizers, volunteers and crews for making this such a positive experience!

Best way to get to Boston!
The loops made this course ideal. You never had to guess where anything was and you always knew what was next. The water bottle tables were perfect. Pacing teams were amazing. Running loops helped mentally because counting down from 8 goes a lot faster. Overall an amazing race and helped me achieve a dream come true.

perfect for a BQ effort
Compliments and kudos to the intent of this race - which IS to give you a great shot at qualifying for Boston and as it is a small 3 miles loop course, you could hear the announcers all the time congratulating another BQer....this note is to give kudos to the JPond Pacers I was lucky enough to run with...Carla - great pace setting and wonderful with chat and knowing when to encourage and when to go quiet; to Mindy - the best enthusiast on the course for all and a stylish commentator as well and thanx for Jean, for as I faded at the end, she made a point to come back for the last half mile to take it home with me so I didn;t finish alone - it was enough to make a grown man cry...and then at turn 3 there was my dear pretty patient passionate pacer who promised she would see me in and with her turn cones in hand, did just that as she was with me over the bridge for turn 4 and the home stretch...having run Boston 15 times, I wasn't there to qualify - but to enjoy the race and leave with another marathon memory and great stories and I did!!

Great place to BQ!
If you are looking to BQ, you found your marathon. None of the perceived drawbacks really exist. 8 loops, not bad. People said there are some hills... What? I found them in the 6th loop. They weren't there before. Pacers, bottles, high chance for perfect weather. Organization was the best.

AMAZING!!
I wasn't sure if I would like a looped course, but this was perfect!! It was predictable and easy for spectators. The water bottle tables were so nice to have!!! Everything was well organized and fun! I am still 3:21 away from a BQ, but pulled off a 13 min PR! I will definitely be back!!

Course was good.
Flat course was great, but of course there was not much to look at when you're doing 8 loops. Not many spectators either, but that's expected due to the small size of the race. Well organized. You didn't ask, but I would be remiss if I didn't say that the shirt is so so LOUD! Maybe tone it down for next year?

Regular people get treated like Rock Stars
Every effort is made to make you feel special. Small field gives them a chance to have the volunteers focus on you. From the designated water bottle table to the folks checking you in, it made me feel like what I imagine the elite racers get treated like. Multiple loops make you famous by the 3rd or fourth time around and people call you out by name and remember you from 25 minutes ago.
I loved it.

Fantastic Experience!
Everything about this race was amazing. I wasn't sure about 8 loops, but I actually really liked it for a number of reasons: made it easier to break up the course mentally, completely prepared for the mild undulations and where the water stops/clock/bottle pickup were by lap 2; feel like you got to know the spectators and volunteers on the course so by lap 3-4 felt like they were really cheering for you personally. And while we're on spectators/volunteers, for such a small race I've never felt more supported by such an enthusiastic crew. Other huge benefit is that it is a runner's race, so passing lanes and water station etiquette were never once an issue. Helped that the weather was perfect. The 6:30 start is also nice, got me back to the hotel and showered without even having to request a late checkout. I spent some time chatting with the race director, and you can see this whole crew is really incredibly invested in making this a great event. Oh, and yes, I qualified (and got to ring the BQ bell they had there)!

Makes you feel special
This is a great marathon. Very well organized. Just the right number of people running. All is geared towards helping you to qualify for Boston. The elite bottle feature is a great plus. Pacers were perfect. The only issue is that the course is not as flat as it may appear. After 18 miles the small ups and downs the course can create difficulties. All in all a great race, highly recommended.

Flat and Fast
It is hard to find 26 completely flat miles, but the BQ.2 folks have done it. My watch shows 213 feet of gain, which is just a bridge here and there, repeated for 8 laps.
It's easier to reach your time goal here because you share it with a bunch of other runners. Because of the way boston breaks down, that group is near your age and gender, which adds to camraderie. My 3:21 group ran in a tight pack until mile 18 or so, when some dropped off the back and a few sped up to reach a more ambitious goal. The pack took a lot of stress out of the day.

Best Boston Qualifier in the world!!!
This race is designed and managed by runners with a single goal - qualify for Boston! Every runner is treated like an elite runner, from bibs to the water stations to the finish photos and BQ Qualifying bell, this race is America's #1 Boston qualifier. The race directors and their volunteers work diligently and passionately with everything focused toward the runner. The 8 loop course is great for the runners and for the spectators. After a lap or two the runners know what to expect and the spectators get to see their runner 8 times without running themselves all over the county. I love this race!

This was the first marathon I have ever run and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The organization and management of the race was exceptional! I would also like to thank all of those who came out to support and cheer us on. It was so motivational and made it such a fun experience! Counting down the days until Boston!!

Just run your best: BQ.2 will handle the rest
After several sub3-hr attempts foiled by suboptimal weather, I had a pretty substantial gorilla on my back. With most of my training partners running Boston, I sought a spring race that would put me on the starting line in Hopkington in 2019. Long story short: I ran my sub3! Here's why:
This was an ideal race for my goal as the race directors aim to optimize as many variables as possible short of the weather that can affect race performance. That being said, I was fortunate enough to have an overcast, windless 50F day. Those variables:
- Personal Bottle Table: was able to use my own hydration mixture along with stashing some gels in a hydration pack so I didn't have to carry it on the run
- Course: 8 laps may sound mentally challenging, but it's exactly the opposite. After the first lap, you take comfort in knowing exactly where each turn, aid station, incline/decline are located. The only Con is that the course is slightly more rolling than advertised, but not to the point that it became an issue
- Pacers: There was one 3:01 pacer that began the race with us, and another who joined after 2 laps who stayed with those of us shooting for sub-3hr. This above everything was the best amenity because as my body was screaming to stop during the last lap, I was able to focus on just keeping up with my pacer, knowing that he would run me in under my goal time.
- Spectators: seeing family and friends 8x is monumental in terms of motivation, but also allows you to shed/add gear or nutrition during the race.
- The field: the other runners in your pack all want the same thing, and a sense of commodity and shared determination develops along the run that feeds your performance.
If your goal is purely to hit a goal time, plain and simple, this is the race for you.

Amazing race to BQ
I am grateful to have this race so close from home! Very smooth ran race from the beginning to the end. Amazing energy from the staff and spectators! One slight negative is the course is 8 loops of ~5K. It could be mentally challenging, especially at the end. Highly recommended if you are looking to BQ in the Chicago area!

As perfect as they come
Several months ago when I started browsing Marathon Guide for my next race, I almost wrote this one off because the idea of running an 8 loop course sounded miserable to me. Nevertheless, I kept coming back to this race. It made the most sense for me in terms of travel and timing, and positive reviews from previous participants made me hopeful that I could race well here.
So I did it.
I ran a 9+ minute BQ and a 6+ minute PR. Not only did I survive the 8 loops, I loved everything about the course. I knew I what to expect each lap and instead of constantly watching the miles tick by on my watch, I just counted down the laps. My lap splits were incredibly even, with a slight overall negative split -- just the way you want to run if you are looking to reach your potential. Did I mention the course is gorgeous?!
The spectators are certainly not as large in number as at a major marathon, but they were all enthusiastic. Most spectators were at the front or west portion of the loop and I looked forward to running that part of each lap.
The course isn't exactly pancake flat, but its pretty flat. Just a slight decline or two where you can gain a bit of momentum and conversely a couple slight inclines which help break up muscle monotony.
The elite bottle table was a new experience for me and I debated for a long time about what to put in my bottles. Gatorade and water usually work just fine for me. In the end, I put nuun+water in one and coconut water in the other. I really think this helped because I was getting more electrolytes without the added sugar of more gatorade which sometimes feels sickly sweet to me if I have been consuming energy gels as well. No muscle cramps until the final 2 tenths of a mile, which were mild.
I always hesitate to include comments about weather since that's obviously outside of the control of race organizers. Spring marathons are especially unpredictable. Thankfully, we had perfect weather for this race and I hope the event enjoys many similar forecasts in the future. Maybe 40 degrees at the start and probably under 50 when I finished.
Organization was top notch. I privately messaged the race with a question and received a timely response. My travel arrangements didn't really lend themselves to a Friday packet pickup, so I picked up my packet the morning of the race. One of the race directors was there personally attaching timing tags to shoes.
I ran mostly within sight of the 3:31 (3:35) pace group. The pacer was friendly and encouraging without being over the top and consistent with splits.
Well done to all involved -- and many, many thanks!!

Best place to BQ! Love it.
Best place to BQ and it's also great for the spectators because they see you at the start and 7 more times before they watch you finish.

This race is absolutely amazing! Organization, pacers, laps, everyone helped me to reach my goal. I wouldn't make it without their support. THANK YOU!

Well organized short loop to maximize pace
The 3.2 mile loop allowed for a lot of aid stations so the runners did not need to carry nutrition or hydration. Having the personal hydration table is really awesome for those of us with preferences. The pacers from the local running group were great and plentiful.

Great race for a BQ!!!
I ran this in the spring. It was about my 15th marathon. I chose it for the flat course and way it was set up. Counting laps was a fun mind trick I hadn't used before during a marathon - but really liked. I tried not to look at my watch as much and keep pace with the pace group and another runner who was also trying for a similar time. It worked great! Because of this course setup I definitely was at least 5 minutes faster than I would've been anywhere else. I ran my 2nd fastest time and really didn't prepare as well as I should've. I BQ'd by over 6 minutes! If you want to focus on your time and not go for scenery - this is it. It was still beautiful running by the river, but since you do it 8 times, that part wears off. You're focusing more on your speed, which is nice.

Best Race for a Boston Qualifier!!
I ran this marathon last fall and fell short by 11 seconds for a BQ. I trained harder and was thrilled when I found out they were having another on in April! I LOVE this marathon. It's very well organized, the volunteers were awesome! Cheering and supporting you like crazy! It made the difference. 8 laps around the Beautiful Fox River is 99% flat. I qualified this time with a 13 minute and 27 second cushion! I HIGHLY recommend this race!! I wish I lived close to this area to run there more often. My husband and I love the Geneva/St. Charles area and the people! There are two water- Gator aid stops and another elite table to put drink of runners choice! Also had bananas, orange slices and energy gels! I can't say enough good about it. SIGN UP!! It's a BLAST!

BQ.2 will take you to Boston!
This race has the excitement of Boston or Chicago 26.2. From picking up my bib and shirt while talking with the race directors and other runners to race day excitement, passion and enthusiasm of the volunteers, this event is 1st class. Plenty of gatorade and water at the stops. I loved the loops - I was able to see my family and friends eight times! That keep me going. You could hear the music from the finish line area when you were on the other side of the river. The course was scenic, along the river with trees providing shade. The pace teams are a nice touch. I have run 3 Boston's, 7 Chicago's and would definitely recommend this race to anyone who has dreams of going to Boston. This race helped me BQ and they even had my fav peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at the finish!

Very fast course and great weather. Perfect for BQ
This was my 2nd marathon ever and still BQed. Great course and the race was put on by a great staff. I really liked running the eight loops because it helps mentally to know the course.

Great, Fast Course; Excellent Organization
I loved this race, this course, the volunteers, organizers and especially the result. I qualified for Boston with a 12 minute cushion, thanks to a perfect day to run, but also a great course with just enough aid stations, nice shelter from sun and wind, and an exciting atmosphere.
If you're looking for a ton of crowd support, this isn't the right race, because it's small, uncrowded and starts at 6:30 AM. If you're looking for a great course where you can lock onto your pace, and get great encouragement at the aid stations and especially crossing the finish line, which happens multiple times on this loop course, this is a great race!
Thanks to the organizers and volunteers for making this special!

Fantastic organizers and volunteers
I've done Last Chance (fall version) in 2015, although didn't BQ, I PRed by 6 minutes! When I heard they started the spring version which is more promising on cooler weather I signed up for it. And I was right! The weather was perfect 40-50 with none to little wind. The 8 loop course was relatively flat with 2 small hanging brides that have about 10-15 feet elevation. 2 water stations plus elite bottle table so basically you have access to water every mile! I was on my way to 3 minute PR and a BQ when my legs gave out 0.2 mile to the finish. Assisted by two paramedics I hobbled to the finish, still PR by one minute but missed BQ by 37 seconds! Heartbreaking but I get over it couple days later. A big thanks shout out to Joanna of the RaceGuard (paramedics on course) for spotting me in distress and running the last 3 miles with me encouraging me to keep going. She is a Godsend. The support from staffs and volunteers is the best I've seen. They will do everything they can to help get you to BQ so if you like a flat course and try to BQ, this is the race for you! A lot of people BQ on that day! I found out the hard way that my legs don't respond well with flat course so I'm going to try something different for my next race.

FIRST CLASS EVENT
I was registered to run the Illinois marathon and needed to make a quick switch of races. I was so lucky to find this as it is 45 minutes from home and I was trying to BQ. The stars aligned for me. I was so lucky I was able to register 2 days before. When I picked up my packet, the man in charge (I think his name was Dave) shook my hand and told me everything I needed to know. The event couldn't have been more organized and professional. I saw 'Dave' as I was walking to the start and he stopped to wish me good luck. If your want a BQ do this race. The support of the volunteers is a experience I'll never forget. They push and encourage you much to get that BQ. I was really nervous about the loops but it was actually a nice alternative to count loops versus miles. I qualified for Boston. I might do this again in fall. My cut off was only 53 seconds. This is a top notch event.
