Albi plus the Tarn Valley - fabulous!

A comeback marathon after an injury, and I wasn't disappointed. Very well organized - both before and after - with a two-lap finish at the Albi Sports Stadium that makes it all worthwhile. There are just two things I would say: firstly, refreshments are every 5K, but not a sports drink in sight - just water, oranges, orange juice, cake and dried fruits. Secondly, the out-and-back along the Tarn Valley is very beautiful, but feels long, with very few turns, some drawn out gradients and not much in the way of shade. At 25 degrees, reaching the tunnel near the turning point was a huge and welcoming, cool relief. Crowds are a bit sparse outside of Albi, but they make up for it in enthusiasm. Would certainly keep it in my diary as a possible spring marathon for the future.

Fast and flat... with great pre-and post-race meal

Ran it once. Course was fairly flat, but not easy, as temps reached into the high 80's. Pre- and post-race meals were superb, and well-organized (duck was superb, and the wine went down well, even after 26 miles). Crowds were sparse and muted until the last mile or so.

A well organized race; beautiful, flat out-and-bac

Couldn't have asked for a better day. Did it while doing a quick two-week tour of southern France. Arrived on the day before the race just off the train without a place to stay. The organizers were an amazing help getting me situated for the night. Awesome race, plenty of fuel on the course, plenty of wine post-race (included in the registration fees!).
