"That Dam Hill Race ROCKS!" (about: 2014)

Beautiful loop course along a river with a dam and yes a HILL! There were plenty of shade trees along the asphalt trail. Volunteers and runners were soooo friendly and supportive. You pass the fully stocked aid station every 2.25 kms which was great as I did not have to carry anything. Lots of people set up their own stations along the course. It was inspiring to be running with the elites. Loved the long sleeve hoodie and the medal. It doesn't get much better than this. I would do this race again in a heartbeat.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself at 'That Dam Hill' run. The organization, timing of the event and support on the course was phenomenal!

I chose the 12 hour run, as I just wanted to see how far I could go. My legs gave out well before that, however, I was able to achieve a new distance. This race is a wonderful way for someone new to the world of ultra-marathoning to get started. There is no minimum distance required. You can do a one lap or 45 laps+, if you're feeling up to it.

The chance to have a drink or snack every 2.2km (1.4 miles), at the well-stocked aide station, was amazing. I also loved being able to see my own personal time, distance, laps completed each time I went around.

Dave and his team of organizers put an incredible amount of work into this race. I'm really looking forward to it again next year.

This race is well organized and supported with a really great aid station and excellent volunteers. A perfect spot to set not only one, but several personal best on their multiple distances which are certified all the way up to 24 hours and 100 miles.

Loved this race! The flexibility of the time running (and distance) is what makes it unique. Organization was terrific, aid station incredible and the special bonus is having actual washrooms on the course - no porta-potties! I'll be back.

"The BEST time-based running event!" (about: 2014)

The 2.25 kilometre loop is not flat, but it's layout worked well for me. A very long easy downhill section to the flats by the river. Then uphill, past the hydration area, to start it again. This was the first time I had run a loop format distance race and I just took on the 3 hour division for my first time trying it but I really liked it because friends could cheer you on and you know exactly where the next support area will be. I got to know the course well, so I could adjust my pace to suit the topology. The support centre was awesome and in addition to the stuff I brought, they had lots of other things. Water, Powerade, Coke, orange slices, banana slices, and something I'd never tried before mini boiled potatoes. The loop itself was very shady and relatively well-sheltered from any wind. In addition to the 3, 6 and 12 hour timed events, they tracked your Half, 30K, Full and 50K distances so, if I were faster, I could have done a BQ there. Highly recommended!

"Great marathon, organizers and volunteer are great" (about: 2014)

This is the second year this marathon has been organized and it's on the top of my list of marathons. The race is well organized and volunteers are great too. It was a tough course but this is the first time I run more than 42.2 km. in 6 hours. I would recommend this marathon if you are training for an ultra. Moreover, I will be signing up for next year, hopefully I can run more than 6 hours since the course is open for 12 hours.

"Excellent loop track marathon" (about: 2013)

So many things I loved about this marathon. Yes, it is a loop course so if you don't like loops that may be problematic. But the course was very beautiful going through a park and along a river. A little challenging as it has some elevation for a part of it but not killer hills. Great support at the aid station which you could count on every 1.4 miles! Volunteers were beyond friendly. Being from the states I kept hearing 'Go Indiana' every time I made a loop! Perfect time of year for favorable weather. Not a ton of spectators, mostly friends and family, but having my newborn granddaughter in attendance was spectacular! Looking forward to running it again this year and having a great time.

This was my first time running this type of loop race and I will do it again. I signed up for the 6 hour race because I needed a 26-28 mile training run for my fall marathon. I was already registered for Chicago when this race was announced for 2013 but it very well may be my goal race in 2014! I got the mileage in, the course is through a beautiful park, it was well organized and the volunteers were amazing!!!

Great event. Many options, appealing to the beginner and the veteran runner. Don't let a looped course turn you off. Support is always close by, course familiarity = mental/emotional security. You can zone right out and the time just flies by.
