London Marathon – Previous Head-To-Head Results
by MarathonGuide.com Staff

Many of the top competitors running the 2009 London Marathon have met before at races in the past – especially at the recent Olympic Games and past London Marathons. In the men’s field, Martin Lel – as he goes for his third consecutive London Marathon win – has the best head to head record against his competition: Lel has raced against almost everyone in the field and lost only twice to his current competition – once to Felix Limo at the 2006 London Marathon and then again as he finished out of the money at the 2008 Olympic Games. Wanjiru has a record as impressive as Lel’s, although admittedly shorter. Wanjiru has won two of the three marathons he has run, losing once to Lel and beating Lel once…

In the women’s field, there has been an interesting rivalry between the two fastest women in the field: Catherine Ndereba and Zhou Chunxiu – each capturing important victories against the other. Among the others, there have been wins and losses and we’ll note that our head to head which often provides some clarity just shows us that anything can happen as these women race against each other.

Here’s our complete head-to-head listing of elite runners in the 2009 London Marathon. Can it tell you who will win? Maybe, maybe not. But, it’s going to be an interesting race nonetheless.
