Marathon de Mayo is Boston Marathon Qualifier
(Reno, NEV) – The Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo has received its
certification of its marathon course from the United States Track & Field
Association. This designation means that runners who compete in the
marathon can qualify for other prestigious marathons such as The Boston
Marathon and The National Marathon in Washington, DC where qualification is
required for entry.
"It is a tremendously time intensive process for certification," said
Finish Line Productions’ Suzy Truax, the marathon’s Race Director. "But to
be considered a serious road race, you simply must get your course USATF
Certified so that your records, whether it be a world record marathon pace
or just your own personal best, really mean something."
The USATF Certification Number for the Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo is
NV06002MW.
USATF Course Certification: What is course certification?
The purpose of the USATF course certification program is to produce road
race courses of accurately measured distances. For any road running
performance to be accepted as a record or be nationally ranked, it must be
run on a USATF-certified course. In addition, the certification program is
very important to the average road racer, as well as those of exceptional
speed. Most runners like to compare performances run on different courses,
and such comparisons are difficult if course distances are not reliable. No
one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not
accurate.
The Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo
The Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo is a premier event open to athletes
of all running abilities that is dedicated to supporting worthy nonprofit
organizations. It inspires community celebration and rewards the
achievements of all participants, sponsors, volunteers, friends, families
and spectators.
