Seattle, WA - January 31, 2012 – In its fourth year, the annual running
block party known as the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon
benefiting the American Cancer Society will debut a revamped course
highlighting Seattle's serene surroundings and notable landmarks. After
starting its first three editions in the suburban City of Tukwila, the 2012
event will begin in downtown Seattle welcoming more than 26,000 runners to
Seattle Center on Saturday, June 23.

"We are delighted to welcome to the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon to Seattle
Center," said Jean Godden, City of Seattle Councilmember. "This event is
not only a boost for the tourism industry, but embodies civic pride,
celebrating our city's love of music and living a healthy lifestyle. The
new course is an exciting change for an event that has truly become an
annual summer tradition."

A Seafair Signature Event, the race annually draws more than 26,000
participants from across the country to experience the excitement and
entertainment provided by live, local bands playing each mile, motivating
cheerleaders, and encouraging spectators along the 26.2 and 13.1-mile
courses. Participants are then invited to celebrate their accomplishment
with a headliner concert and finish line festival, which will also take
place for the first time at Seattle Center.

"We know moving the start and finish line to Seattle Center will enhance
the convenience for participants, especially visitors staying in downtown
hotels," said Scott Dickey, President of Competitor Group, organizer of the
Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series. "We are proud of great local partnerships
that have allowed this race to continue to flourish over the past 3 years
and we look forward to debuting a brand new course in 2012."

The new route will start and finish in downtown Seattle at the Seattle
Center, offering runners clear views of the iconic Space Needle and
downtown skyline. Participants will tour downtown, running past landmarks
such as CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field, enjoy fewer hill climbs and
more waterfront views on a scenic route that highlights the very best of
beautiful Seattle.

"The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon continues to be one of our marquee events,"
said Beth Knox, CEO of Seafair. "These changes to a loop course will be
much more runner and spectator friendly. We are pleased and thankful that
the City of Seattle supported us in that, assuring that Seafair continues
to kickoff each summer with a world class marathon."

Race weekend will kick off with a two-day Health and Fitness Expo at
CenturyLink Field, featuring more than one hundred fitness retailers,
exhibits and interactive clinics on Thursday, June 21st and Friday, June
22nd.

Runners planning to participate in the inaugural event are encouraged to
save money by registering before the entry fee increases on Wednesday,
February 15. After February 15, the price increases to $115 for the
half-marathon and $125 for the marathon until the event is sold out.
