Seattle, WA - March 21, 2011 - There is a tradition quickly taking hold in
the Pacific Northwest as the 3rd annual Dodge Rock 'n' Roll Seattle
Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society once
again nears a sold-out field. The race draws more than 28,000 participants
each summer and will return on Saturday, June 25th, 2011.
The scenic race kicks off the Seafair summer series of events, and offers a
running tour from Tukwila to Seattle. Runners will start at the Gateway
Center in Tukwila, winding along beautiful Lake Washington with views of
stunning Mt. Rainier, Seward Park and the Space Needle, before an exciting
downtown finish at Qwest Field. Along each mile of the 26.2 and 13.1 mile
courses, live bands will highlight the best of the area's renowned music
scene while motivating and entertaining runners as they push through the
distance. Participants will then join friends and family to celebrate at
the finish line festival, complete with a beer garden and rockin' headliner
concert outside Qwest Field.
Registration is available online at Competitor.com and is on pace to
sell-out quickly. Anyone planning to run the full or half marathon is
encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
"It's a real testament to the success of the first two years of Rock 'n'
Roll Seattle," said Zoe Griesbach, Event Director. "We're proud to see so
many runners returning each year and we hope to continue to build on the
excitement surrounding the event."
In 2011, Dodge will be the title sponsor of the event, showcasing its new
line of Dodge vehicles throughout race weekend, including the new 2011
Dodge Durango, Charger, Journey and Avenger models. Dodge brand vehicles
will serve as pace cars on-course for the marathon and half-marathon and
will be displayed at the Health & Fitness Expo presented by Power Balance.
The Dodge Ride & Drive program will give the public the chance to test
drive a brand new Dodge. For every test drive taken, Dodge will donate $20
to a charity of the participant's choice.
"At the Dodge brand, we are passionate about our products, and we're also
passionate about living life to the fullest," said Ralph Gilles, President
and CEO – Dodge Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "Running is a fun, energetic and
healthy sport that reflects many of our own brand values, and participating
in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series is an excellent opportunity to expose
our brand to the more than 1 million people who are somehow involved in or
touched by the series."
The race benefits the American Cancer Society, through the fundraising
efforts of DetermiNation athletes training to participate in the Dodge Rock
'n' Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon.
