       Kickoff to the 50th Running of the TCS New York City Marathon

WHAT:
A celebration to kick off the historic weekend of the 50th running will 
feature both Rising New York Road Runners youth participants and marathon 
legends at the TCS Run with Champions, along with the 2021 NYRR Hall of 
Fame inductees and finishers from the inaugural 1970 New York City Marathon 
at the Opening Ceremony.

5:30 p.m. TCS New York City Marathon Opening Ceremony presented by United 
Airlines

- Shalane Flanagan: 2017 TCS New York City Marathon champion, 2021 NYRR 
Hall of Fame inductee, running all six Abbott World Marathon Majors this

- Gary Muhrcke: 1970 New York City Marathon champion, 2021 NYRR Hall of 
Fame inductee
- First Finishers: Participants from the 1970 New York City Marathon
- Meb Keflezighi: NYRR Team for Kids Ambassador, 2009 New York City
