May 6, 2007 declared Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo Day
                         by Governor Jim Gibbons

(Reno, Nev – April 30, 2007) For the second straight year, the actual race
day of the Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo has been given its own "day"
by the Governor of Nevada. Governor Jim Gibbons declared race day, May 6,
2007 as Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo Day. The proclamation will be
read prior to the race beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2007.
Approximately 2,000 runners and walkers along with thousands of spectators
are expected to on hand to hear the news.

Doug Collins, executive producer, is looking forward to that moment.

"We've been working since last June on putting together a safe and fun
event for all of our participants," Collins said. "Getting the proclamation
by the governor is just icing on the cake. We are very proud."

In only its second year, the event has also been distinguished by receiving
a tourism development award. Historically it has been noted that when a
runner travels to a marathon, each marathoner travels with three additional
visitors. Collins says that's good for Reno.

"As a runner or walker of the marathon, marathon relay, half-marathon and
10K, you get to see Reno as more than just the downtown corridor," Collins
enthuses. "You see our tree-lined streets and our parks, our vistas of the
Sierras and even Virginia Lake. The 5K takes you along the Truckee River to
Idlewild Park. Can't get anymore beautiful than that."
