Mississauga Marathon Celebrates 10 Years Running
Mississauga, ON – 2013 marks the Mississauga Marathon's 10th Anniversary to
be held on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th. In just ten years the
Mississauga Marathon has grown into one of Canada's largest marathons and
to celebrate this year we are including some new initiatives for this
special occasion.
There is a new event logo to commemorate the ten years and recognize the
anniversary. In addition, for those runners who have participated in all
nine Mississauga Marathon events and registered for their tenth, there will
be special recognition of their support and commitment to the event. Ten
times members will receive an additional finishers' certificate, a unique
race bib and their name announced at their event start line. They will also
have a special designated area for easy and quick race kit pick up at the
Runner's Expo. All ten year participants should check the event website to

The Mississauga Marathon is also proud of its community impact over the
last nine years through various charity programs. "Our charity partner, New
Circles which provides services and clothing to enhance the day-to-day
lives of the people they serve, has received over $25,000 worth of brand
new and gently used clothing and shoes through donations from our runners"
says Ben McCarty, Mississauga Marathon Race Director. "Another partner,
Second Harvest which is the main provider of fresh food to people in need
has received over 22,000 pounds of food from race weekend. This includes
roughly 3,000 pounds of bagels, 200 pounds of prepared food, 17,000 pounds
of beverages, 600 pounds of fruit and 800 pounds of snack food." Elliott
Kerr, President of Landmark Sport Group, the company which created and
manages the event also reflects back on the last nine years of the
Mississauga Marathon "We are very proud of our event and how we contribute
to our wonderful city and impact the lives of young kids with our
commitment to fitness and healthy lifestyle choices. In addition, we will
continue to spread the good word about one of the greatest cities in the
world, Mississauga!"
The 10th Anniversary Mississauga Marathon will take place on Saturday, May
4th and Sunday, May 5th, 2013 and offers "A Run For Everyone". Events
include the Marathon, Petrillo Law Marathon Relay, Recharge with Milk Half
Marathon, Valeant Pharmaceuticals 10K, 10K Student Relay, "The Hazel" 5K
and 2K Fun Run/Walk. A Runner's Expo is also part of Race Weekend, a
mandatory stop for all participants to pick up their race kits taking place
on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th, at the Port Credit Memorial
Arena, in downtown Port Credit.
