Press Release - Memorial Day Marathon - 10/21/13

     Memorial Day Races Already Seeing Large Numbers in Registration
 
The 5th Annual Memorial Day Races is now officially open for registration. 
The event will take place May 24-25, 2014 and includes the Memorial Day 
Marathon & Half-Marathon, known as the "Toughest Marathon in The East," the 
Tanglewood 10K/5K, Topricin Kids Run, MDR 15K Trail Race, and the MDR 
Trail-Road Challenge.  New in 2014 the MDR will be adding an Inaugural 
Memorial Day Dirt Road Ride presented by the Arcadian Shop. Capping off the 
weekend will be SummerSound – Live @ Tanglewood, an all-day music festival 
on Sunday May 25th starting at Noon. The 2014 SummerSound lineup will be 
announced within the coming weeks.
 
The pace for registration has already been set, as a record number of 
registrants have already registered for the 2014 race.  "We are really 
excited about the expansion of the Memorial Day Races in The Berkshires," 
said Event Director Matt Linick. "The event continues to grow each year and 
we cannot wait for it to be bigger and better for the 5th Anniversary this 
year." Last year's races had over 1,400 participants and that number is 
expected to reach 2,000 in 2014.  The event takes place at Tanglewood Music 
Center, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. 
 
The Memorial Day Races are proud to support Team Red White & Blue as our 
National Charity Partner and to be adding Soldier On as our Regional 
Charity Partner in 2014. Last year over $34,000 was donated/raised in 
conjunction with the races.
