Memorial Day Marathon Races Forms Charity Partnership with
Team Red White & Blue
The Memorial Day Marathon Races held in Lenox, MA is exited to announce a
new partnership with Team Red White & Blue, www.teamrwb.org a nonprofit
organization whose mission is to create a community of veterans, their
families, and American citizens together through authentic social
interaction and shared experiences through activities and events across

In 2012 the Memorial Day Marathon Races raised over $37,000 for charity, up
from just $1,800 in year one. The fundraising goal for year four is to
raise over $50,000. Aided by a partnership with Crowdrise, a social
networking/online fundraising site, the MDM Races were able to better reach
out to runners with a common interest in raising money for Team RWB.
Crowdrise is also used by the New York City Marathon and Boston Marathon as
their fundraising portal.
Fundraising efforts will once again be led by race organizers, Team RWB
Staff and volunteer/runner, US Army Captain Samuel Russo. "I had the
pleasure of meeting Sam two years ago when he ran the race and he told me
he wanted to get more involved and assist with the fundraising side of the
event. Sam introduced me to the great people at Team RWB and it was an
automatic match!" said event organizer Matt Linick. Sam a graduate of West
Point, and his wife Carrie are both originally from Pittsfield, MA. "We are
thrilled to partner with the Running Away Team and to participate in the
Memorial Day Races. Their races are well organized and fun for the entire
family. Their commitment to aiding veterans and their families is a
testament to their passion and willingness to help those who have served
our country," said Founder and Executive Director, Mike Erwin.
The 4th Annual Memorial Day Marathon Races will take place on May 25-26,
2013, starting and finishing at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA. The races will
feature the Memorial Day Marathon, known as "The Toughest Race in the
East", The MDM Half Marathon, The Berkshires 10K/5K, The MDM 15K Trail Race
The Trail-Road Challenge and The MDM Kids Run. A portion of the proceeds
