Press Release - London Marathon - 3/23/23

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

                               We Run Together

Introducing our campaign for the 2023 TCS London Marathon

On Sunday 23 April, the TCS London Marathon will return to its spring date
for the first time in four years, with more than 40,000 people set to take
on the 26.2 miles from Greenwich to The Mall.

The We Run Together campaign will celebrate the landmark day and the joy it
will bring to the thousands of people across the capital and beyond.

Released just a month before this year's marathon, our new #WeRunTogether
video features participants who encapsulate the spirit of the event in
2023.

We Run Together

These participants have all either taken part in the London Marathon before
or will be doing so for the first time this year. They are:

Harkiran Kalsi

A London- based artist, Harkiran (or 'Harky') has championed the London
Marathon and running for nearly 15 years. A passionate campaigner against
social, racial, and political injustices through the melding of two
passions: art and running, Harky formed part of a global running community
called The Stolen Starts. Comprised of 10 women and created by New Balance,
The Stolen Starts helps elevate these women and the causes they care most
about, from racism to sustainability to mental health. Having run three
marathons in six weeks in 2022, Harky will be cheering on participants at
this year's TCS London Marathon.

Gina Little

Gina lives on the London Marathon route in Greenwich and enjoyed cheering
participants on from her home before being inspired to run for the first
time in 1983, just two years after the first-ever event. Since then, Gina
has completed 37 London Marathons – the most by a woman – and a staggering
total of 603 marathons in 46 countries. In 2021, she finished third in the
75 to 79 age category at the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group
World Championships. She is also the oldest women to complete all six
Abbott World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and
New York).

Haroon Mota

Coventry-based fundraiser Haroon Haroon champions diversity in exercise and
fitness as part of his work at Active Inclusion Network – and that includes
encouraging more Muslims to take part in events like the London Marathon.
He's also the founder of the Muslim Hikers community, who were recently
featured on BBC Countryfile, and is working with the London Marathon
Events' Inclusion Advisory Group to ensure our events are as inclusive as
possible.

In 2021, Haroon received the Spirit of the London Marathon Award for his
fundraising efforts at the London Marathon. Whenever he failed to get a
place in the ballot, he took part in the event via a charity place and has
raised more than half a million pounds for a variety of great causes,
including disaster and emergency relief projects and humanitarian
programmes.

Haroon will take on the TCS London Marathon again in 2023.

Kai Wright

Kai is a 26-year-old swimming coach from London. He is part of the Run Dem
Crew collective and has been cheering on London Marathon participants at
Mile 21 since he joined the group. This will be Kai's first TCS London
Marathon.

Amy Strode

Originally from Plymouth, Amy has been fundraising for Save the Rhino since
2015. She will be running the TCS London Marathon in one of the rhino
costumes that have become synonymous with the event since their first
appearance in 1992. Passionate about running, fundraising and rhinos, Amy
has completed an ultra-marathon in Kenya and last year took on a 230K Ultra
Run across the Arctic Circle in Sweden.

The 2023 TCS London Marathon on Sunday 23 April will be televised live on
BBC TV and broadcast around the globe.
