                 Grandma's Marathon Registration Tops 5,000

(Duluth, Minn.) Registration for the 35th Grandma's Marathon field has 
passed the halfway mark with more than 5,000 runners already entered in the 
June 18 race.

"We are very pleased with the rate of marathon registrations. Our numbers 
are well ahead of where we were last year at this point and we are seeing a 
steady pace of runners securing spots for our 35th marathon celebration," 
said Scott Keenan, executive director of Grandma's Marathon.

Among the festivities planned for the milestone event is a reunion for the 
North Shore Striders - the Twin Ports' running club which hosted the 
inaugural race in 1977. Also, all marathon participants will receive a 
commemorative Grandma's Marathon cinch bag and an aluminum water bottle.

The race will accept entries for the annual Two Harbors-to-Duluth event 
until the 10,000-runner limit is reached. Registration is available 
exclusively online at www.GrandmasMarathon.com. The current marathon entry 
fee of $90 will remain until April 1, when it increases to $100.

The 35th Grandma's Marathon weekend also will feature the Garry Bjorklund 
Half Marathon and the William A. Irvin 5K. Registration for the 2011 Garry 
Bjorklund Half Marathon begins Monday, Feb. 14 and continues through 
Friday, Feb. 25. The half-marathon registration is conducted through a 
lottery process in which 5,700 participants will be randomly selected. 
William A. Irvin 5K registration begins March 17.
