Press Release - ING Georgia Marathon - 12/18/08

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Runners Race to Save Money on ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon,
Registration Rates to Rise on Jan. 1

ATLANTA, Dec. 18, 2009 –Runners can save money by signing up before New
Year's Day for the 2009 ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon. Registration
rates for the Sunday, March 29 marathon and half marathon are set to rise
on Jan. 1, 2009. The full marathon registration will increase to $95 (from
$80) and the half marathon will increase to $75 (from $60). Runners can
sign up for the race online at www.inggeorgiamarathon.com or send in
applications post-marked by Dec. 31, 2008, to take advantage of the lower
registration fees.

"With colder weather upon us, it's hard to believe that in only 100 days
we'll be hosting one of the most beautiful springtime races in the country:
the ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon," said Michael Hughes, race
director of the ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon. "Our race weekend is
perfectly positioned for people who have 'get in shape' on their New Year's
resolutions list or for runners looking to participate in one of the
country's most popular springtime distance running races."

Registration includes race entry fees, a commemorative finisher's medal, a
Mizuno technical training shirt, a commemorative marathon poster, and many
other products that will be available only to those participating in the
third annual event.

The combined field for the marathon and half marathon is limited to 15,000
and race organizers are expecting a sell-out. "This is a popular race among
experienced and new runners alike because we have an almost unheard of 98
percent completion rate. We create the race experience –hydration stations
at approximately every mile beginning at Mile 2, the aid stations, the
entertainment, the spectator zones and more – to help every runner, walker
and wheeler cross our finish line," added Hughes.

The ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon, which starts and finishes at
notable Centennial Olympic Park, has received numerous accolades since its
debut in 2007. This year, the ING Georgia Marathon was selected by RRCA as
the Southern Region Marathon Championship. This designation casts a
spotlight on outstanding road races across the country and awards top
runners in three categories. It's the second time in as many years that
RRCA has rewarded the event. In 2008 the ING Georgia Marathon was awarded
the designation of State Marathon Championship by RRCA. The 2007 inaugural
marathon and half marathon earned its way to the record books: according to
Running USA, the 2007 race was the second largest inaugural combo running
event of all time. It was also voted "Best New Event" by Blue Ridge
Outdoors Magazine.
