(Duluth, Minn.) The field for the 2014 Fitger's 5K Run & Walk has reached
its capacity and registration is now closed.

Registration for the event's 25th running was limited to the first 2,000
entrants, an increase of 100 from last year. The 3.1-mile race is scheduled
for Saturday, April 19 at 9 a.m.

Registered participants will receive confirmation emails and can pick up
their race packets at Fitger's on Friday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
or on race day from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

The race begins on East Superior Street in front of Fitger's and travels
through downtown Duluth and Canal Park before finishing back at Fitger's.
Following the race, an award ceremony and post-race party will be held at
The Rex, located on the lower level of the Fitger's complex.

Joe Moore (14 minutes, 53 seconds; course record) and Morgan Place (17:53)
were the top finishers at the 2013 event, which drew a record 1,926
registrants.

All net proceeds from the Fitger's 5K benefit the Young Athletes Foundation
(YAF). The YAF is a Grandma's Marathon program promoting and developing
youth athletics throughout Carlton, Cook, Douglas (Wis.), Lake and St.
Louis Counties. Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more
than $600,000 to area nonprofit youth athletic organizations.
