FOOT LOCKER COUNTY CHALLENGE RETURNS TO
COUNTRY MUSIC MARATHON™
NASHVILLE, TN., March 9, 2005 - Foot Locker returns to Nashville as a
Major Sponsor of the Country Music Marathon™ & 1/2 Marathon and the title
sponsor of the Foot Locker County Challenge presented by Reebok, which take
place on Sat., April 30.
Known as the race within the race, the Foot Locker County Challenge is a
unique program in which five Country Music Marathon runners from the
Nashville area are selected to represent their county during the
race. The participant who finishes the marathon in the fastest time
captures the title of Foot Locker County Challenge Champion.
One runner each from Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Sumner and Wilson
counties will be chosen to represent their communities and vie for this
coveted title. Registered runners will have the opportunity to complete a
questionnaire about their running experiences and why they should be chosen
to represent their county. Once the questionnaires are reviewed, a select
group of applicants are interviewed via phone and in-person by a
panel of Foot Locker and Elite Racing representatives.
The winner will receive an exclusive trophy from Tiffany & Co., a two-night
stay at the Hilton Nashville Downtown, a $100 gift card from P.F. Chang’s
China Bistro, as well as a chance to meet Phil Vassar at the post-race
concert the night of the marathon.
Eligible applicants who expect to run between 3:45 and 4:00 can register at
Foot Locker stores or on the Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon Web
site, www.cmmarathon.com. The participants will be featured on the
regional broadcast of the Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon on Comcast
Sports Southeast. The deadline for applications is March 25, 2005.
